Hey everyone, I finally got the Teraflex 1.5" spacer installed along with a set of eibach lift springs, anyone with similar setup notice vibration following install. Noticing a new rotational vibration under load/acceleration, worse at speeds under 40 mph feels like it could be an issue from extreme CV angles in front like a bad CV axle feels. Rides fine when coasting and under light acceleration and higher speeds, no new noises or other issues.
Well, this scares me. I have my Teraflex lift kit and Eibach springs set to be installed tomorrow at Punchy Whitaker's in Concord. I hope I don't have this problem, as well, after!
Concord huh, Im just North of Mooresville, should meet up sometime. I ended up pulling the eibach springs and lost 1.25 of lift but vibration went away. Mine is a latituude though, I have heard the trailhawks work fine with the spring and spacer combo.
Why would there be an issue among some trim levels and not others? Never dealt with a lift before. Am considering the 1.5" AVID Budget lift with the Eibach springs.
I couldnt answer that question confidently, but I have heard other members report trailhawks dont have issues with spring and a 1.5" kit combo. As far as I know the trailhawk uses a slightly different strut and spring and has a higher final drive ratio, all other suspension and driveline parts are identical between trailhawk and all other trims with 4x4.
Yes, just the final drive gear, so the auto transmissions should be identical and the "front axle" and differential in the rear of trailhawks have a higher gearing. This is where the trailhawks "4-Low" function comes from without a multi speed transfer case. This should not make a difference in wether springs and spacers work in one over another but is worth noting as one of a few differences mechanically between the trims. Worth noting that CV axles are same part numbers between the trims.
Well, I didn't even get 500 miles out of my lift and springs before(I believe) I blew out the sway bar bushing on the driver's side. I didn't even hit off road. I disconnected the sway bar links and the noise has gone away. I believe that it might be too much stress on the sway bar bushings with the 1.5" lift AND springs that causes this. I don't know though, I am not knowledgeable in this area. Oh well, I will just leave my sway bar links disconnected, although, from what I have read, I do not recommend it to others. I just wake up each morning feeling dangerous!
Did you install the lift or did a shop do it? Is sounds like the tension was not relived off the sway bar before setting on the ground causing too much pressure on the bushings
Shop installed it. It wasn't the only problem I had with them. For a Jeep/truck shop, they sure were shitty. Oh well. I have been driving without the sway bar connected and it drives fine, so I'll leave it at that for now.
Im thinking of swapping out the teraflex sway bar links, it seems like I get about 500 to 1k miles before I need to re grease them or they start clunking around.
Jeepers, Hmmm. same here only with the ATP kit. Seems to me we just one good manufacturer to make some descent sway bar links. Been thinking about disconnecting them too ? Wonder how much more flex I'll get ?
You will get a good bit more flex but on road handling/ cornering will suffer some, I spend most of my time on road so can live with the noise, but it does get under my skin.
Just had a shop install my avid 1.5 inch kit 12 days ago at a shop a friend works at. I'm not happy at all with the install. Started to hear a grumbling vibration, thought it was my winch hook vibrating on the fairlead, but now its started to pop while turning the wheel. I haven't had an alignment done, will be doing that Saturday at a different more specialized shop when 235 65 tires are installed. Anyone experiencing a vibration while idle and a poping when turning the wheel?
Yes noticed an increase in felt vibration at idle as well but only in gear (Drive or Reverse) goes away if shifted to neutral when not in motion.
Wish I knew, been meaning to get mine to the dealership but I use it for work and have a pretty unpredictable schedule. Keep me posted if you find the cause and ill do the same.
As i stated before we're getting the tires installed tomorrow morning at a pro 4x4 / jeep shop. They'll know what it is. I didn't tell the other shop to align as the shop tomorrow will along with the install.
The creaking and clunky noise is most likely a swaybar bushing going bad. The rattling noise is related to the heat shield. Or so we think.
