Hello, I was trying to install a skid plate on my 2017 Jeep Renegade Altitude. However, we noticed that my Jeep has some cross beams that none of the instructions showed. Because of this and other reasons (holes on the skid plate did not align with the holes on the under-carriage of the front bumper did not align), the skid plate didn't fit. I am curious, does anyone's Jeep Renegade have these support beams? First picture is the right side (passenger side) and second picture is the left side (driver side). These are in front and to the side of the front motor trans and oil pan. I appreciate any help. Again, looking to see if other people's Renegades have these beams? And if not, would it be okay to remove them?
I will check my 2015 Latitude. If I remember correctly those supports were added for frontal crash protection. I don't think my 2015 has them but I will check in a little while.
Question, are the brackets straight or curved? I have curved brackets, yours looks straight in your photo.
These brackets look like support for the bumper. I am trying to find the thread about the crash protection braces, they may be in a different location. Will keep looking.
I found the info I was looking for. The additional front crash supports were added after July 2015, the support bracket should be back near the firewall, front door area, which should not bother the skid plate. Those brackets look like bumper supports. Is the skid plate the new Valkyrie? I like their stuff. My Rengade was built in April 2015 so it won't have the added crash supports.
Yep, this is the new Valkyrie front skid plate. When installing, the instructions don't show those supports. And the holes on the skid plate did not align with the holes on the bumper area. can you send me the link of where you found those crash support beams? and thanks for researching this.
