I've got a very low mileage (3,000 mile) 2017 1.4 L Sport that runs very bad when first started. I can smell gas when first started, the engine sounds very loud like it has an exhaust leak, there's vibration in the steering wheel, and the engine kind of gargles and just doesn't run clean. It reminds me of a lawn mower with the choke left on. After driving it for about 10 minutes, it settles down and runs fine. I took it to the Jeep dealer, and there expert "Certified" mechanics say there is nothing wrong with it, and it runs like all Renegades. The Service Engine light does not come on, and if the dealer's computer doesn't find an error, so they are completely clueless. Has anyone had a similar experience?
Our 1.4 Turbo motor uses hydraulic fluid to open the intake valves. Not sure if this is a closed system or if it needs to be serviced/topped off. It would make sense that once the fluid warms up, it expands and opens the valves correctly. I would take it to a Fiat tech before I went to a Jeep dealer. The engine came in the Fiat 500 Arbarth since 2007 and later went in a Dodge Dart Turbo in 2012-ish. You can find better engine specific information in those forums.
