I still don't understand how this guy got these to fit with "minimal" rub? Also, is there any difference between an 18 and 19 inch tire if they are the same exact size and width. How does a guy fit a 235/65/17 with no rub and someone a 255/55/18 Both 29" tall one 9.3 & 10" wide. Or a 235/70/16 which is 29" tall Why can't I use the same 29"tire on 19 inch rim. Is it the offset on the 17 is better? https://www.jeeprenegadeforum.com/t...stock-limited-with-spacers.74130/#post-708642
I couldn't tell you for sure how he managed it, I've seen several folks say they're running 29" tires with minimal rub, but I have my doubts. I can tell you for sure what I've run; All on Stock TrailHawk 17 inch rim with a 1.5 spacer; Toyo Open Country 235/65r17 (30")- They rubbed, even after the pinch seam mod. Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus 225/65r17 (28.5") - no rub, but they had a really weak sidewall, I destroyed a couple of them wheeling. Yokohoma Geolander MT G003 225/65r17LT (28.5") - no rub, and a tough tire, but the LT means truck tire, they were loud on the road, But looked great.
well I have to get a spare tire since these cars don’t come with them. (Dealer tells me it’s because it makes the car lighter for gas mileage, can you imagine). So I’m going to purchase a rim then play with tire sizes. What spare size rim do you recommend? I mean I have 19’s on but if I can’t get a decent AT tire I might as well go lower. I saw these on eBay but the tire size I’m not sure off and don’t want to chance it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/17-Jeep-Ch...599300?hash=item3430f40ac4:g:DrcAAOSwQgVfYouG
Ended up fitting TH rims with 225/65/17 with 1” spacers. Going to install 1.5 in tears this week. Love the ride just wish they were a bit wider but WAY better than the 19’s. Thanks Zuke for all your help! Now next project is to get rid of this HORRIBLE lag!!
