    Looking at some different options for wheels for my Rene. I just finished putting a lift kit on (3" lift) and im looking for wheels. I found some that I like but theyre 16x8 0 offset and different lug pattern. I know i can get adapters for the lug pattern but what are the chances i can go 0 offset? Of that wont work what offset range should I stay in? Offset has always been difficult for me to understand in terms of how it will affect fitment.

    Any help is appreciated!

    Offset is how far the mounting surface of the wheel is from the center, a + offset means it's that distance further from center to the outside of the wheel, and a - offset means it's more towards the inside (Vehicle side)...

    The real number to care about is the backspacing. To figure the backspace, Take the wheel width (8" in this case), divide by two, and figure the offset into that... So in this case;

    8"/2 =4
    4 - 0 = 4" Backspacing

    So those wheels have a 4 inch backspace.

    Stock Renegade is a 7" with a +35 offset, so;

    Convert the offset to inches;
    +35mm / 25.4 = 1.37"

    Find the centerline of the wheel;
    7"/2=3.5"

    Add the offset to the centerline for the Backspacing;

    3.5+1.37 = 4.87" Backspacing on a stock rim.

    End result, The rim you're looking at is like putting a .87 spacer on a stock rim, and will be that much further from touching anything behind the tire, like the strut.
