I love my Trailhawk, but I've had to bring my Jeep to the dealer SEVERAL times. Sometimes for the same issue repeatedly, others for something new. I've just returned from the dealer last week when they couldn't find a creaking noise coming from the front end. Today I find on the front passenger door a split in a seal. Here I am having to schedule another appointment to go in and have it evaluated just for them to have to order parts again to make me come back for the repair. I'll attach a picture so you can see what I'm talking about. Has anyone else had many build quality issues? I'm near the 36k mile warranty limit and I'm nervous to go past that mile mark, but I don't want to have to pay for these build quality issues again and again. I've had to go back for the lift gate seal. It had a rip. I need to go back for a door seal that is hanging at the bottom and I've also noticed an air leak from the front passenger side somewhere. Does your state have any lemon laws? Here in MN, if something goes wrong with the vehicle and the dealership can't fix it, or if they fix it but it keeps breaking, you can claim a lemon law and they will be required by law, to replace the vehicle. Definitely check in to that, maybe talk with an attorney. Otherwise, how far underwater are you on it? If you're close to the 36k mile mark, I'd assume you aren't too deep. And if you can get out of it with little to no loss, do it.
I don't know if the lemon law will apply in my state because the issues don't impact the overall function of the vehicle. None of it was mechanical. I owe about $18,900 but the dealer will only give me $16,000 for the vehicle. It only has 31k miles on it and it's in great shape. No dents and only light light scratches. I'd check into your lemon laws. In MN, it doesn't have to impact the function of the vehicle. Here's the criteria for MN lemon law: Four or more unsuccessful attempts to repair the same defect; or One unsuccessful attempt to repair a defect which has caused the complete failure of the steering or braking system and which is likely to cause death or serious bodily injury; or, A car which has been out of service due to warranty repairs for 30 or more cumulative business days It sounds like you may have had your renegade in for warranty repairs accumulating to 30 or more business days, so you would qualify for lemon law here in MN. If a dealer is offering you 16k, you could probably sell privately and get out of it at no loss.
