I put a huge gash right thru the tread of the stock TH tire yesterday. It is beyond repair. I was gonna wait till these tires whore out before replacing them but I guess that time has come. I was also hoping there would be more lift kit options available by now too but it looks like we'll all be waiting much longer for that to happen. So it look s like I'm in the market for some new rubber. I'm not sure if I want to keep the stock rims or get something else. That's where you folks come in. So, here's my questions. If I keep the stock rims, what's the biggest tire I can fit with no modding? If I replace the rims, what's the biggest tire I can fit with no modding? Would different backspacing get me a bigger tire? If so, what backspacing would I need to go with? I know from experience that the KO 2's are a decent tire and I would gladly get them again. I also like the duratracs although I'm not sure they come this small. Oh, and I am not interested in running wheel spacers and I'm only interested in actual experience from TH owners. No offence. Also, my TH is my wife's daily driver. We get lots of rain and some snow. I only use my TH for mild offroading but I'm hoping a better tire will allow for more fun in the future. tx
225/65/17 KO2 on factory wheels Wheels are a fun experience, just look at what others have done. Most 17" wheels with 5x110 have an 40+ offset or less. And a width of 7.5"-8". Too wide and it'll hit the fender liner/pinch weld. I personally will be trying a KL TH wheel which is a 7.5" wide. The Yokohama ATS (go12) was terrific on road, smooth quiet, but off-road it was not as tough as the KO2. I did the same climbs as a few other THs and the Yokohamas cleaned well, but the grip of the KO2, and ability to air down, the BFG ran circles around the Yokohama. I swapped out and never looked back. Depending on what's out at that time, when I do the wheels I'm going to go with a 235/65/17 or a 225/70/17.... after I lift as well.
I've seen somewhere, someone doing a 235/65/17. There's a good Yokohama in that size I was looking at. That is going to be tamer than the KO2.
