About three months ago, I was looking to sell my 2014 Wrangler JKU Polar Edition and move into something cheaper. A local dealer was selling a hypergreen Renegade with no options except auto and 4x4 for $10k off MSRP, only $14,000. I test drove it and liked it, but not enough to unload the Wrangler, which was fully loaded and super nice. I think there were three other people waiting to test drive the Renegade after me.

I waited the three months and found another $10K off deal, this time on an a 2017 Altitude with heated seats, nav, and MySky, all the features I wanted. It was the only one on the lot at that price. Some other Altitudes with the exact same build sheet were priced $2,500 higher.

So I pulled the trigger. Final price came out to $7k less than my Wrangler, which was four years old. Figure I'll drive this one through the warranty and then decide if I can get back into a Wrangler.

Anyone one else out there manage to hit $10k or more off MSRP?

There is a Renegade sport 4x4 for sale near me at Autonation in spring, close to 10k off. I went to look at it but they "lost it". It turned out they just couldn't find it sitting on the lot, they found it 3 days later...after I looked at a used Trailhawk. I ended up buying the Trailhawk which was a leased/rental vehicle with 20k miles on it. I got that one for $18k. I felt pretty good about that deal, they definitely seem to be selling 2017s new at rock bottom prices. It's hard to find a lightly used Corolla for that money.

That's crazy how they could "lose" a vehicle. I always wonder if they do that intentionally to try to talk you into something more expensive.

But I'm sure you'll be a lot happier in a Trailhawk than a Sport. Enjoy your new ride!

Here in NH you pay all the money for a wrangler while the rest you can get a deal on. I learned that lesson when I bought my 16' JKU new and there was absolutely no incentive to buy it aside from getting the jeep waive. Kudos to the salesman though - when I was on the fence about it, he brought me to local trail he knew about on the test drive.
My 2016 TH was $16k with 20k on it, was a rental just like Toad's deal. I was looking for something to replace my Honda Element that had 326k (not a typo) and refused to die.

Drove a Hyundai Accent for the first part of my life, just graduated college and got a real job last year figured it was time to buy my first car. After lots of haggling I managed to score a Limited with all the bells and whistles I wanted for 20k flat plus the fees and crap of course. MSRP came to $31,500 so I was happy as can be. Just passed 1000 miles and it’s by far the most comfortable car I’ve ever driven.

If anyone has some advice for good upgrades (winches, roof racks...etc) I’m in the market :)

Just posted a thread about this - I have a similar great offer in front of me - just can't decide which trim to go with, Latitude 4x4 or Trailhawk. The sales they are having right now are pretty huge.

Trailhawk would have a higher resale value down the line.

I just picked up an '18 Latitude 4x4 with beats and 18 inch rims for $16k with a sticker price of $27k! Pretty happy camper.

Nice! That's even better than my deal, which I thought was amazing lol. 2 weeks ago I picked up a 2017 Latitude 4x4 for 17k, sticker 27k, no beats but it has the power seat/auto AC package, similarly stoked! Upgraded the stereo to a Kenwood unit with Apple CarPlay for under $1k and it's perfect. Only negative with this thing so far is the mpg, but hey it's a Jeep.

It's too bad about the gas mileage I'm getting 29.5 mpg. But I do drive like an old man and live in a tiny town so mostly hwy miles. My first upgrade is definitely going to be heated seats it gets cold where I live.

Wow, that’s about 10mpg better than I’ve been getting, though it’s been mostly suburban/city driving for me. Hopefully it’ll improve over time.

Good deal! I thought they were really only chopping prices on leftover 2017s. That's crazy that they'd come down that much on an '18.

The dealership had some kind of quota they were hurting for and I had a budget so I had them over a barrel.
