Hey there. First time poster... Wife just got a new Renegade Altitude. Doesn't really want to lift it at this time, but wants a more aggressive wheel/tire package (they came with Eagle Sports? Really?).

Is anybody running a 225/75-16 on stock suspension? If so, will this size also fit properly in the spare tire well with the tools and all?

    Thanks
    Matt

Hello and welcome. I am on my second set of 225/75r16 tires. My jeep has a lift and spacers but others have used this size without either. For sure, the larger tire will fit in the spare tire well. My first set of KO2 tires rubbed a bit. I have general grabbers now and they barely rub if at all. It only happens when turning so it is mostly due to the spacers.

I'm running with those with an all weather tire - slight rubbing on real extreme turns but other than that, it's g2g

I am on my stock 16" rims. I have the daystar lift and spacers. I've had the tires for about two years now. Kelly Safari TSR 225 75r6 20160823_173741.jpg 20160823_181214.jpg

I think I am going to go with this size as well. More options and variety in 16" in general, as others have said. Wider isn't always better for offroad, but having that higher sidewall will be good for my area.

17" doesn't really get good until 245+ and that is pushing things for such a small vehicle. We aren't super heavy, so going too wide defeats the purpose of going wide. Still need to push that traction down to grip, that takes weight. There are some wider options at 16" if I ever feel the need, still.

Now I need to find the 16" magical rim that fits the brake caliper, has the right offset, bore and lug pattern o_O

How much lift is that? What model is your Toaster? I have a 4x4 Sport, going with the same size tire. Wondering about wheel spacers. Doing pinch seam and 1.5" Avid lift. Should be good, right

It is 1.5 inches. I'm not sure about the spacers on it, the shop I had it done at did all of it for me. It was the Latitude 4x4 with the 6 speed manual. I finally traded her in about 2 weeks ago, 41,000 miles and 3.5 years later. I went with a Grand Cherokee this time.

Before and after pics. Little stock Continental 215/65-16 originally. Then I got the Toyo Open Country A/T 225/75-16. So much better.

Currently 1.5” Avid w/ 1.25” spacers but want more lift so I’m looking at to Bilstein/Eibach upgrade for a nicer ride little extra clearance.

I went with the AVID 2.5 inch lift, ATP (Eibach (I wanted the Red)) springs and the Bilstein B6. I have a really nice ride. On and Off road.

Those tires made a huge difference. looking good.

Do you have to run spacers with this 225/75r16?
