I’m starting the install on the retrofit hitch. I’m getting the wiring out of the way first. Does anyone know which fuse in the back I should tap? They all seem to turn off with the vehicle.

Also, FYI, when removing the rear threshold trim with the metal tie downs on it, be careful. They have the blue clips under it. I broke mine. Luckily I had some spares. The trim piece screws down pretty well even if you don’t have spares. They might not be needed.

It also looks like the bolt that holds the fuse box in place isn’t a good ground. I might have to use a self tapper to make one.

Works better when the volt meter isn’t set to ohms. ‍♂️

The fuse box screw is a good ground. Fuse number 7 was a full time power fuse for me. It was actually empty even though I have lumbar support. It will be the second fuse from the right, in the row closest to you.

My fuse tap didn’t come with the fuse installed. The 15 amp fuse that comes with it should be in the side with the wire.

Depending on the weather, I’ll start the actual hitch install tomorrow.

So removing the bumper cover turned into an issue. I snapped the passenger fascia Mount when I was trying to remove the clips from them. It’s the part that goes to the toward the side of the vehicle. I was able to get the rivet back in. I’m thinking about screwing it in place with a self tapper to make sure it doesn’t pop loose. I’m hoping the other screws along the thresh hold and under the fender trim will be enough to keep it secure.

A self tapper did the job. The bumper went back on no problem and the hitch looks great.

Tomorrow I start the daystar winch mount on the Trailhawk.

Finished install. I’ll post pics of a few trouble areas and a few tips to make things easier later.
