My 2017 Trailhawk 2.4L began missing as I drove up a steep mountain road in the Sierras last week, getting so bad that the check engine light came on; however, my Innova 3100c OBD II code reader wouldn't pull a code (doesn't work on Renegade). After a little research, I found that the coil on plugs (COP) could be the culprit, & having experienced the problem previously in another vehicle, it confirmed what I was experiencing. I began looking around locally & found the COP's priced from $79 each to over $100 for OEM. I purchased the Delphi GN10738's from Rock Auto for $25.89 each; Autozone wanted $79 each. When I removed the old COP's, I wiped the grease away & found Delphi's to be identical to the OEM's, with the exception of the word MOPAR. The markings were the same down to made in Brazil. Knowing this, I'd recommend replacing COP's on your Renegade when you hit 50k miles with the Delphi's, assuming Rock Auto continues to sell them at this great price point. My Renegade runs fantastic after swapping out the COP's!!!!

There is one 10mm bolt holding the cover on near the oil filler cap and is otherwise held on by snaps; which is removed by pulling up gently.

    Good Info, Thanks!

Side note on the Innova 3100c though.... It should have still been able to pull DTC's from your Renegade, did it not power up at all when plugged in, or did it do something else?

The Innova 3100c powered up with new batteries in it, & after a long wait, it gave me an error or can't read type of message. It's good to know that it should work, however. If anyone has any idea why my Innova 3100c OBD II didn't work, I'd appreciate hearing about it.

Well, if you have access to another car to try plugging it into and see if it works there. that would tell if it is a problem with the Innova or the Jeep. It could be a problem with the DLC connector on the Renegade, or it could be the cable on the Innova...
