So back In September I got a new job that requires me to commute about 45 minutes to an hour and also work at construction sights which can be quite tough on a regular car. So I decided to sell my VW Golf and buy a new Jeep Renegade Trailhawk. This will be my build thread as I have quite a bit planned for it to make it a bit more capable and of course look cooler. Heres my tired old VW golf..Put 140k on her and she was starting to have a lot of problems so it was time. Here she is fresh off the lot And finally home in the messy garage
No wheel spacers right now...I may if I lift it. Problem I'm having is my dealer offers a life time power train warranty so i'm trying to figure out what I can and cant do to the car that will void that warranty. Waiting to hear back from them if I can do a lift or not Any ways its tax season and I just did my taxes so I have a bunch of goodies on the way. Heres a little teaser for one of them
Got some cross bars that I bought from madness autoworks. They came in silver so I sprayed them with some primer and then I'm going to spray them with some satin black so it matches better with the roof rails. Also bought a roof rack off amazon. From what I read its a decent cheaper roof rack however it does tend to rust according to the reviews so I added some clear silicone around the screen holes to help keep water out. Also spraying the roof rack with some satin black thats supposed to prevent rust. Hopefully I'll have the roof rack on late today or tomorrow afternoon
Heres some crappy cell phone pictures...I'll take some better ones tomorrow. Hopefully Monday I will have my air deflectors in for the windows. I'm still waiting my light bar to come I have a tracking number but it says the label was created and thats it. Its been sitting like that for about a week. So I might give them a call tomorrow
Got the light bar installed....Did it a bit different then the write up on the forum. Will post some better pictures hopefully tomorrow if its not raining
Well I dont know if Daystar wants me openly discussing the switch pod that I have on my car. If you want more info pm me. I will say that the switch pod on my car is the switch pod made for the JK wrangler...I had some one install this for me and it was done a bit differently then yours. Yours is actually a bit cleaner then mine but yours involved a bit more work I think. I ran the harness down the side of the inside of the roof rail down the hatch under the weather stripping. I tapped into the cigarette lighter in the trunk and then the rest of the harness is ran under the head liner to the a pillar. I wanted to avoid drilling anything which is why I didnt have them run it under the roof rail. That being said right now my hatch is giving me a bit of an issue its rubbing on the wire when opening it. I tried to reposition the wire but now its causing the exposed wire on the roof the stick up a bit. I'll see if I can post some pictures in the next day or two. Its been raining out the last few days so I havent had a chance to take some decent pictures.
Thanks I appreciate it. Its coming a lot quite well. My only issue I'm having is with the roof rack and tires my MPG is suffering, I'm only getting 21-22 mpg. Not sure if that has to do partially because of how little miles I have on it.....Next thing I have going on is some door sills and the rock guards when ever they get delivered.
Eddie, I wonder if Charles Casabianca is still on this forum. His built was cool and I want to see his rig one year later
