forgive me if this is question has been answered already .. when we speak about rubbing .. is it due to the width or overall diameter ?? ... I will be getting a TH, with 17's .. thus far reading forums 225/65/17 are the recommended size with a 1.5 lift and spacers ... if I went up to a 225/70/17 it will rub .. so its diameter is causing the rub .. so will a 235/60/17 be ok ?? or will that also rub ... due to the width? I prefer not to do any cutting .. don't have the exp to do so. I prefer wider tires and want to go as wide as possible .. do I get wider tires or thicker spacers .. and what are my limits ??? Thanks .. I am totally new to all things jeep ...
Mine is lifted 1". I have 225 6517's on it. I personally couldn't go any bigger without cutting something, as I have only 1/8" clearance at the front of the wheel at full lock. I think it depends on the tire you pick. I have heard of some people doing 235's...
The trailhawk has 17" wheels, I have the factory 16" latitude wheels. I don't know if there are any offset differences between them.
Thanks everyone for the comments it does help .., UT-Renegade 235/70/16 BFG rugged terrains with no rubbing .. that's great news , I will try keeping the 235 width and maybe 60-65 on 17's with a lift and spacers(if it causes rubbing .. dropping it) ...Dee i would be happy if I could get 235/65/60-17's .. from your post do you believe running 235's will cause rubbing .. or as UT suggested if the spacers are dropped .. 235 will prob fit ...??? Also if the spacers are dropped .. will the 225 basically look the same as the 235's ??? Once I can decide this the next biggest problem is trying to find MT/AT tires to fit a 17 in China ... there are a lot of Chinese brands ... but far and few selections of MT/AT tires for well known brands .. at least locally ... Locally they have tires called Comforser's, Goldway, triangle and Pearl that carry AT/MT tires .. I have done google searches on reviews and quality .. but not much showed up from the 4x4 communities or reviews ... AT3(worried about fakes) I can get shipped in from another province .. and much of the copper tires are also available .. but the stt etc.. don't come in 17's .. at least not that I can find here for sale. Also no luck finding Yoko-geo's-hankook-kumho-toyo's-bridgestone-firestone or any of the possible 9 At tires that could fit 235/65/17.... So if I want to avoid rubbing ... on a TH with 17's ... as UT has no rubbing .. 235 without spacers should be safe .. right ?? as long as I keep the overall diameter below 28.5-29 and have a lift. Thanks again .. just want to clarify the opinions...
My TH run bf goodrich mud 29,3" 225/75/16. No spacers, no issue, no problem. In off road is awesome. I have a 1,5" daystar lift. This picture it was still not installed.
There is a member on here (vega) that is running 235/75R17 coopers on his non-TH will no issues at all. He posted the pics as well. The fronts are very close to the perch but work w/o spacers. My dilemma is deciding on either KO2 or Cooper A/T3s
I think with my setup it would cause rubbing. I had to run spacers because of the width of my wheels. Anything over 8" wide would need spacers. If you could find a 7.5" to 8" wheel, I don't think you'll need them and would be able to run a 235.... As far as the size difference looks wise... The 235 is .5" taller and wider. Other than that, they'd look the same.
