Yep, he's a piece of work. He's a wrangler snob. Couple things come to mind on his "review". A renegade does not pretend to be a wrangler. It's NOT for the hard core off-road user, of which I'm sure he's done before, yeah right! The renny can be finessed into jumping off the line at a dead stop, try squeezing the gas pedal not stomping it. It has a small tank watch the gas gauge put fuel in it before the warning light comes on especially if going into Miami rush hour, duh. I have to admit I was a wrangler snob, then I realized I no longer could physically enjoy my wrangler, climbing into became painful, and no I didn't off-road. I wanted a capable on pavement ride that would get me wherever I needed to go. I wanted to stay with JEEP, so discovered the renny and haven't been sorry one bit. He was jaded before he ever turn it on, why write a review when you've already made up your mind! And my hubby doesn't feel like he's handed in his "man" card when he drives it. OMG
Oh btw hope he's not a friend of yours~

I lost IQ points reading that garbage.

Nothing is a Jeep but the Wrangler! Jeep company be damned! How dare Jeep offer a variety?!

:) :) :) Where were you, when company was f..d up. If all "real" Jeep-ers invested few 10k/each in company, it would not be bought by Fiat. :) :) :)

that dude doesn't see the whole picture... yes in retrospect I could have bought a Wrangler for about the same price as my TH. However, it would have been a rather spartan and simply equipped Wrangler. Whereas my TH is loaded down with just about all the bells and whistles. Bells and whistles that I like a lot :) Rough day doing yard work? Take an easy cruise and crank up the seat warmers to ease the lower back. oh it's hot outside, well then just crank up the A/C (wranglers don't all come with A/C).

Cars can be mission specific, wranglers definitely have their time and place, as do all the tiny cars he mentioned in the article. My wife has a prius and suited her 50 mile work commute quite nicely. My old honda fit is a work horse and carries a ton of cargo.... but neither have towing capacity or 4x4 capabilities. While I don't need much 4x4 or towing capacity, I do need some and thats where the TH fits in perfectly.

I have priced out a wrangler to closely match what my TH has... it would have cost me about $5,000 extra bucks. And that my friends is an extra $5grand that I prefer to not spend.

So, like I said, that guy in the review loses sight of the big picture when it comes to cars and their needs. He should therefore criticize all the sport car owners for driving speed limit and never seeing at what speed the speed governor kicks in on the way to the grocery store 1/4 mile away. He'd also probably rip all sport bike riders for not dragging a knee on every turn. Man I'd hate to read his review of my Honda Fit and it's lack luster off road performance :p

Oh, come on foks--I thought it was pretty funny. I mean, this guy's writing about losing testosterone for not having enough having "Jeep creed"--and I can totally see that. Of course, any guy who truly is "manly" isn't worried about "cred" of any kind, and has enough confidence to drive whatever he wants without losing any masculinity; the author knows that, he's just taking a bit of a tongue-in-cheek approach.

If you truly are concerned that a blogger thinks that your car is effeminate, well, perhaps you should step back and think about why that is. ;)

Given that the stock Wrangler has open differentials if I am remembering correctly, the TH with its traction-control-based method to arrest wheelspin might actually have some advantages in specific circumstances. I could see it handling icy or lightly snowy conditions better for example.

Obviously a Wrangler with limited slip differentials or lockers is going to outperform a Renegade, that's a given. But, how much more than that $5000 more already cited will you have to spend to equip the Wrangler that way from the factory?

Should this jeep not named a Renegade, it may have a better approach to jeep consumers. I still keep my two TJs but I don't compare them like most of people are. They have their own skills at their own rights.
