Since getting our Jeep Renegade Trailhawk a little over a year ago, Cindy and I haven't had a reason to take it into the dealership and if anything, had been avoiding it even though we knew there were flashes available that might help it along. Unfortunately, a "SERVICE ENGINE" warning has recently illuminated on our dash and while we normally wouldn't give it too much thought, we've found that it is impossible to shift or "lock" in the 4WD system when this warning light is on. Needless to say, we finally broke down and made an appointment to drop off our Renegade at our local Jeep dealership. In addition to giving the check engine light a look, we were told that they would also update the computer with 10 separate flashes as well. Anyway, here's a shot of us dropping off Renny - here's hoping they're able to actually fix things and with any luck, make things better as opposed to making things worse and sticking us with a bill.
I was up north (MI) this weekend doing some trail ridding and I had the same problem. My 4 wheel drive would work about half of the time when I tried to lock it into 4x4, the dash would tell me to service ESC and Hill Start. I have a appointment scheduled for Friday. Hopefully they can get it fixed before I head to Silver Lake sand dunes this coming weekend. Please keep this discussion updated when you get a chance and I'll post hopefully on Friday when my Renegade is looked at.
Nothing? They still have yours? Mine just had new seals put in the doors and its on its 3rd ignition switch now. Sent from my LG-H631 using Tapatalk
Dam that's a shame all these problems and the money they cost. I TRYED today to order a trail hawk with a tow package and lane warning. They refuse and told me no jeep dealer can order any trail hawk. Italy makes a string of trail hawks one way each day on the run. USA has no Pick of options just color. Can this be true after waiting 17 weeks earlier this year
When I dropped my Renegade off at the dealership I sat and waited for them to hook it up to the computer and they came back and told me that they could not find out why the 4x4 was cutting off. They offered to give me a rental and told me that they could keep it for a few days to try to see if they can't find anything else out. But I wanted to get it back so I could go to the dunes and I did and it worked without a hitch.
I don't want to be an ass here but there seams to be a common problem you guys are haveing with the 4 X system. Could it be since you changed your tires your confusing the computer. Now your driveing stock with a 3:55 you put taller tired now your running a 3:23 your driveing in 4 lock the computer says somethings not right. And she quits. The only reason I question this I have a ford AREOSTAR 4x4 van. It had a Dana 28 awd transfer case with electronic locker. I can't mess with tire size it's factory tire was 215-75-14. I was going to run an explorer stock tire which was 235-75-15. Everything is the same explorer, ranger, bronco, but they don't have my auto locker center diff and I was told by AREOSTAR fourm members the tire size changes and messes with the center diff because the prom was set for a certain speed before locking it thinking the new speed is slipping . Don't the renny center diff lock by slippage also. Just my 2 cents.
I'm still trying to figure out where Wayoflife is with this. They make this big deal then disappear like their rig exploded on the lift and took them with it.
Something not right the cherkee and renny the run the same 4x4 system. My friend has an awd 500 xl basically same reny no trail hawk goodies he has 30,000 not one problem? It seams fiat is sabatoges jeep chry. There milking every dime out of the brand. Going cheap. And the stealers are taking customers for a ride. For a year I've been trying to get my hands on a renegade a dealer in az yesterday TRYED to talk me out of it. My falt I went to Sahara jeep was told I had to order my jeep and wait 17 weeks. I did and had a relaps with my cancer and could not get the jeep then so they resold it. I TRYED to reorder was told by chapman at 3 of there dealers it seams chapman owns every jeep dealer in Nevada . Got shifty salemans response but the service desk in Henderson was great. They said I don't care we're you buy a renagade you come here. $400. For the lift kit and $500. To install,a compleat job with 4 wheel alignment is 5 hour job. Seams fair, since it's a dealer and I figure they would do it right. Now yesterday we drove to az and went to a dealer who was a race car driver. His salesman said wait don't by a renny th. The new Patriots will be out in Jan / February . There built on the same platform as the renny but stretch. More tow and room. He said its bigger than a renny and smaller than the Cherokee. He figures 3,000-4500 tow. The renny is 2,000 and Cherokee with a v6 is 5,000. So since this is a middle size suv there going after the Hyundai ect awd market which is no off reading and this is for the outdoor family life style. So now to go to Home Depot buy some rope because the stew pot just got bigger.
Just had the service message come on went to dealer and had updates ran and oil change although it was not due. Picked up the Hawk and still had the Service Message on, had to go back to have the service tech. Take it off. Found out the message is a 1 year count down that comes up at the year mark.
