Any one else experience "Service within" count down message at start up?

My Renegade recently began to display a "Service within xxx mi" count down at startup. ( currently my 1.4 has ~86xx mi)

I had previously replaced my Oil @ 5700 mi, due to oil change message. When I replaced my Oil I preformed the Oil message reset ... turn your key to the ON position WITHOUT starting the engine. Then, press your accelerator pedal to the floor (3) times and then turn the key back to the OFF.....

This new "service within" message was not in the operators manual and I found little info on the internet at various Reneged/ FIAT forums.

So I call my local dealer and scheduled an appointment to find out what is required with this "Service within" message. Could not assist over the phone, did no complete comprehend what message I was referring too.

    At the my appointment.
Dealer identified several Software Flashes my Renegade needed (BCM, IPC, RFH, ABS & PCM) . I was in formed that this "Service within" count down was being displayed due to improper or incomplete reset of Oil change at time of my previous Oil change. My current Oil will need service soon. In the future I need to preform the following to properly reset my Oil change message.

I declined the oil change and they proceed with the Software flashes. And hour latter I was on the Road and all is well.

    ...New instructions....
.... turn key to ON position WITHOUT stating the engine. Press accelerator to the floor for and hold => 30 sec, release accelerator pedal then press Break Pedal 7 times then turn key back to the OFF......

I search the internet and not found the above instructions before. So I have the following concerns.

    1. Are new instructions necessary because my Renegade is 1.4 with manual? ( most Forum info is based on 2.4L Auto)
    2. Other forums have stated that the Service within count down can only be reset by FCA maintenance software by dealer ship. At this visit my dealer performed several software flashes and must have reset the "Service within count down" with the maintenance software.
    3. At my next oil change do I preform new instructions or old instructions or both?
    4. Is new instructions to clear "Service within count down" and the Oil change is separate and different?
    5. Will I have another "Service within" message in the future?

Would like to hear from other with similar experiences.

We're getting the same kind of message on our 2.4L Trailhawk. I did the oil change at approximately 7500 miles, we're around 9000 now.

I may try your procedure. There is a 10,000 mile maintenance interval but it's stuff like checking the wiper blades, lubricating the door hinges, and checking the air filter.

To my understanding, The service within message has nothing to do with the software updates. It's all just based off of routine maintenance stuff at certain mileages just like what's listed in your owners manual. Just another way to keep the customer informed since some people still don't know you have to change the oil in your vehicle lol

Yea, I agree, the 10k service is very basic. The current unknow for me is if new instructions are for Service count down clear or Oil change reset?

    New instructions....
.... turn key to ON position WITHOUT stating the engine. Press accelerator to the floor for and hold => 30 sec, release accelerator pedal then press Break Pedal 7 times then turn key back to the OFF......

I had the same message come up ~ 2K miles after I had my first oil change, oil change ~7500 and the message started coming up around 10K. I basically ignored it because I just had the oil changed, tires rotated and software updated when I was at the dealer. May not be the correct thing to do, but it stops coming up once the countdown ends.

I just assumed whoever did the service didn't reset the computer properly, but cant say for sure. My wife has a Limited, and hers has never had this message at all(more miles than mine too). Could it be a TH only issue, do all of you have TrailHawks?

I just fixed this message on mine last week! It needed it be plugged into a machine for software updates. The service messages are separate than the oil change

You can not it has to be reset from the dealer on the 365 count down. I had it on our 15 latitude 2.4l 4x4 but lucky it is not on our 17 Trail hawk 2.4l.
