What about voice commands? Do they still work with Pyle?
I think Seicane uses the same units from the same factory... China is starting to get way ahead in technology....

I would assume so because @pdqTrailHawk said all steering wheel controls work the same. @pdqTrailHawk would you be able to provide some insight??

Just a heads up to anyone getting this unit. I recommend not using the auxiliary mic that's included, and use the one that's in the head unit instead. From my experience, it works way better.

As for the bezel, I think all units use the same bezel. I believe wiring should be standard for all models also.

As for voice commands, I'm still playing with that. I wasn't having much luck with the auxiliary mic. I just took the auxiliary mic off and am using the one in the head unit. People can hear me way better on the phone now. like night and day.

As always, thanks for all your insight. I just want to clarify what I think I am reading.

What you are saying is that the Pyle radio has 2 mics, one external (auxiliary) and one internal (on the actual stereo unit) and that the mic on the actual stereo unit is better and therefore one can skip the process of hooking up the auxiliary mic when installing this stereo?

If this is the case, then no steps are necessary to connect the head unit mic since it's internal, right?

    Thanks!!

Ok, so we took the Trailhawk on a 2+ hour drive, so we really got to play with the radio.

    Here's my current thoughts:

    1) Radio - Like it better than stock. Best features are local/distant option and auto program of preset buttons. Setting it on distant helped pulled in far way stations. The auto program preset was nice that press one button and all 30 presets are filled. Wife did not like the fact that it didn't display song title and artist. AM still isn't that good, not sure why or are there that few of AM stations left. On steering wheel, volume up and down work on right side (center button goes between radio and aux input)and on the left side scan up and down presets work (center button so far seems to do nothing). Very nice EQ w/ presets.

    2) GPS - Really like this as the jeep didn't have one before. I really like this. It has a lot of options. Many voices to choice from. Setting up a route is easy and adding new waypoints is easy. Like the fact that you can change your icon on the screen and a jeep was one of the options. When deciding on a route it will give you different options to choose. Also has the option to offer alternative routes while driving. Displays speed limit on where you are, seems pretty accurate so far and you can set a % over speed limit warning. It has the options for all sorts of speed cameras, red light cameras, etc, but not sure if this works because I don't think there are any around here.

    3) Bluetooth - This was tested on an iPhone 7 and a Nokia windows phone (sorry android folks). Playing music from your phone works as expected. The left pickup and hang up buttons on the steering wheel do just that. The center button acts as a mute button. It will download your phonebook, and has an area that stores last 10 to 20? called numbers. Voice commands are what ever your phone has. Cortana and Siri need to do their job on the phones. Hands free talking works good. Built in mic works good.

    4) Haven't tried watching movies yet.

    5) Canbus area has lots to display. I don't think anything is missing

    6) Remote, haven't really used it

    7) USB, haven't tried it

    8) SDcard, haven't tried it

    9) Backup camera - Works just as before. Has 2 sets of lines. I think one for backing and one for parking (this is my guess. not sure why which one show up when, but they work)

    10) Steering Wheel Button Programing Screen - I have tried, but just can't figure this out.

I also had this headunit and ended up returning it. A 1 star review on Amazon said it smoked. I had an almost similar experience. I had a smokey smell when using their USB harness and the unit wouldn't power up. I contacted support and they said to not use the harness if it made the unit not power up and/or smell like smoke. I told them this was not a good solution. They replied that others have had similar complaints and to wait for an email with an update, which never arrived.

I highly suggest going the proper route of using a maestro with a supported head unit of better quality. I wish I went that route the first time.

What do you mean when you said "using a maestro"?

Yup just finished install and flashing odometer, no steering wheel controls, critical error message.... sound is great but functionality sucks. Left Dominic at Pyle a video and lovely message.

Give up on that POS head unit. Get a maestro and a pioneer and do it right.

Once they give me a refund I will... two head units later, shipping back and forth, and my install time I'm done

I heard about maestro and full interface with aftermarket head units. I had seen it work on a Wrangler. I am upgrading my radio as I type and Ill post pics and any other info.
