    Hey all -

I have been browsing this forum for a few months now. Has anyone been able to find a plug and play replacement for the 2015 Sport UConnect 3.0?

    I'm picking up a Renegade this weekend, either a 2016 6speed 4x4 with UConnect 5.0 for 20k or a 2015 5 speed FWD with the classic 3.0 for about 13k

I am really leaning towards the 13k one, mainly because it's black. But I don't wanna pass up on it, because I can't even use a handsfree phone with UConnect 3.0. So has anyone found anything useful yet? Seems like some people have responded to threads, but nobody has posted a how to. For example: the Pyle replacement on Amazon.

    Thanks!

you'd be better off replacing the 3.0 with an aftermarket pioneer that has bluetooth function. they have basic models, all the way up to nicer touchscreens, *& they wont cost as much as a pulled uc 5.0 or better. you can get the harness's that snap right in, & running the pioneer boom mike is super easy, & you can sneak it into the space around the rear view mirror.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if the steering wheel controls function with this unit?

I believe you can get the relay that allows the controls to work. Check out Crutchfield. Even if you don't buy from there, they have a lot of good details.

I believe Pioneer or JVC have a unit w/ GPS, but that typically raises the price to the $500+ range.

Ouch. That is a bit pricey. The Pyle sells for around $300 and has all those features. I don't have it yet but based off the reviews of people that own one they are great.

Why do you say that Pyle is garbage? Did you own one or know people that do?

Pyle is known for being a cheap aftermarket brand. I haven't personally owned one, but had friends that bought their head units, speakers, & amps, & had lots of problems & when he tried to get them replaced or repaired, I believe the store told him they only had like a 90 day limited warranty, & he eventually had to replace all of the Pyle components w/ other pieces. Like I said, it's been years, but I haven't heard anything good about the brand either.

Got the Pyle unit and am very happy with it. Well worth the $250 I payed for it and way better than the factory unit.

How would you say it's better then the factory unit? Any issues w/ any of the functions not working the same after it's installed? It's an interesting thought, but the menus & OS looks horsey to me, from what I can tell on the few Picts, but maybe it's a solid performer.
