Ok so in an effort to get to peak boost faster and more streamlined, I've been looking into the Forge WG. I'm also curious about a MBC as some Dart and Fiat owners have dabbled with them with mixed but mostly positive results. Can someone chime in here for me? Maybe drop some knowledge on us or give me your personal experience if you've tried either of these?
I think this would work for upgraded turbo and having a Cobb tuning tool like ,otherwise our stock form doesn't really need anything else other than the diverted valve that madness or modern performance sales Unless they ll come up with something mentioned above..idk how could we even push more boost? I may be wrong. . Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
The upgraded wastegate allegedly helps build boost faster, not increases it. It's no secret that that is a pain point with our setup. Even with the DV between shifts I have to build it again. If it built faster that would be a win.
I think at this point we d have to go into the fiat/dart forums to do some research and do custom wrk ,i know that they ve got same engine but slight different setup and thats the headache Or wait until other parts will be available for the Renegades precisely Sent from my SM-G900P using Tapatalk
Well I ordered a Hallman ES boost controller. After much research, some answers not definitive but understanding the basic princible of how boost is controlled especially in an internal setup I took the plunge. Now I use a BT OBD ELM and Torque app to monitor my sensors, CELs-specifically boost and AF ratio so I'm going to start very small. If I can get a few extra PSI and maintain drivability I'll consider it a win. Any thoughts?
Here is a post from a Fiat thread who installed one. Basically what I'm looking to do is squeeze just a few more psi out of it.
Ok i see, so you re gonna try to play with the boost control to gain some hps i guess its possible, but there are also many of us that could run into complications with codes and stuff and i ,or most of us still have the Renny s under the warranty, i m actually looking forward to do stuff to it after. . I'm not going to go crazy, relax. And I consider warranty too. I have a code reader and eraser if need be. Not to mention the fail safes by the ECM if I do hit that margin.
It had boost cutout from overboost. I made a few more mods and still have the controller if I have time this weekend now that I'm monitoring boost i may mess with it again.
I heard that the Best solution for our 1.4 yet to come for us is from Eurocompulsion and it will be a computer programmer that we can finally do some mods with real successful results and no CEL issues a real tuning box like it was already made for All the other 1.4models ,hope it 'll be ready by next spring.
So my knowledge of the boost control is from tuning my 2004 WRX wagon, and the Jeep 1.4T looks to be the same, basically you will need access to the computer to modified peak boost monitor limit, so you don't throw codes and put your Jeep in limp mode when using manual boost control method. If you follow the vacuum tubes from the turbo and the DV you will find the EBC, Electric boost controller follows the map in the computer and controls the boost by letting the wastegate actuator see boost (opens wastegate to let out exhaust to prevent more spool) as well as opening the DV to dump boost during throttle shut off.
That said I read Fiat Abarth folks had success in better boost curve by installing a check valve or restriction pill in the vacuum line to fool the EBC to see less boost, so that it doesn't command the wastegate to open as early, jeeprenegadeforum.com has a thread on this. One more option is to shorten the wastegate actuator arm and force the EBC to work harder (more duty cycles) to open, therefore more boost is held.
