Hey everyone I wanted to do a write up on how to remove the chrome grille pieces a easy way that don't involve removing the whole front bumper. It takes very little tools and can be done very quickly. Tools you will need T30w torx bit T55w torx bit A ratchet or cordless drill 2 small flat head screw drivers A drill bit I used a 7/32 First you remove the 4 T55 screws on top of the grill and the 4 T30 on top of the cross member Then you have remove the 4 push locks above the headlamps by pulling the center piece out then the outer piece. I just used my flathead screw driver to pry them out. There will be 2 on each side After that remove the piece that the hood release is attached to by pushing down on the front and lifting up on the back and set that aside. The you will see a cover with rubber attached to it this needs to be removed. To remove it you have to drill out the 2 rivets 1 on each side. Mine are already removed Now you have to remove that pieces by lifting up in the middle of it and using a flat head screw driver and separate it from the sides but be careful because you can break the tabs speaking from experience lol. I didn't break anything the first time I did but I did when I was talking it apart to make this write up lol Now you can start removing the chrome pieces one at a time. To do this you just pry the little black tabs holding the chrome piece in there will be 6 tabs total 4 on the sides and 1 on top and bottom. I recommend doing this when its warm if you try prying the plastic cold it makes it very brittle.
This is what it will look like when you remove it. Take note there is letters stamped in the back and the pieces do go in a special order!!!!! The order is A,B,C,D,E,F,G with A starting on the passenger side Now you can sand them and paint them any way you want. I put everything back together in reverse order then painted the pieces and let them dry for a few days then when you are all done you can snap them back on with out having to take everything apart. This is your finished product I used kryon paint and primer since is sticks to plastic pretty good.
Interesting concept I'd like to see a pic from further back when you get a chance, not sure how I feel about it lol. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Jury is still out, but again I applaud the effort and certainly appreciate the write up. I have done several over in the Fiat world, and can appreciate the effort it takes to do a well documented diy as you have done. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
