I was wondering if anyone has tried making a steel replacement bumper for the renegade. If not, what do you think would make it difficult. I am considering building one, but would like others insight before I rip the Rene to pieces to go for it. Would like a light bar mount and winch mount integrated as well. I've built off-road bumpers before but having nothing to really copy the look of so far has made me a little wary to go for it on this. Sent from my iPhone using ToasterJeep mobile app
I built this as making a whole bumper was going to be too time consuming. Sent from my SM-G950U using ToasterJeep mobile app
Yes, it is 1/4" diamond plate. Sits about a 1/4" away from the stock bumper. It is mounted underneath at the same points as the factory skidplate and at the top it is mounted where the recovery hooks mount. I hit a racoon at 70mph and it didn't even dent it.....made a mess of the racoon though.....lol Sent from my SM-G950U using ToasterJeep mobile app
Nice, I think I'm going to try for the bumper just can't imagine taking the Rene out of service that long lol Sent from my iPhone using ToasterJeep mobile app

You just need a 4' x8' sheet of 1/4" diamond plate. Bring it to my house, and a long weekend. It'll be fun!! Sent from my SM-G950U using ToasterJeep mobile app
Someone in Peru made this bumper. I am going to build a version of the bumper but with some modifications Sent from my iPhone using ToasterJeep mobile app
A dealer in Peru made that one actually. And Vegas isn't cool, it's HOT AF lol Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
Now seeing a better pic of it, that steel bumper is a half replacement. So the colored plastic attaches just like it would to the black plastic on the stock bumper. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
That bumper from Peru is a good start, I like it a lot actually. The "half" or "split" bumper may be the best idea because where the factory bumpers attach are very curvy and im not sure how one would manufacture a metal bumper to match up with the factory fenders and look good on there.
