Yesterday I got a call from a salesman I have used in the past at Bob Baker Jeep. He said that they are now taking orders and they will have a couple of Renegades in the showroom by the end of the month.

No kidding?? That's great news! I would totally place an order for one now but am afraid it would take a lot longer to get.

I have got mine already! It is the only one my dealership has delivered, as it was the showroom model and now they can't get any! So feeling quite unique on the road at the moment!

Seems weird that you are not getting them first! Are there none in the USA at the moment? I guess if Italy's jeep sales have gone up so much then they must have them all. Are you all waiting for the Trailhawk version though... As they are not available here or the automatic gearbox!

They began shipment to the US a few weeks ago and are starting to get distributed but none on sale yet. Hopefully they are sending the auto Trailhawks here, that is all I want.

It is nuts that they are STILL unavailable for sale here in the US. Seems that by the time they finally are, the 2016 models will be coming out. I really do feel like FCA dropped the ball on this one.

I'm still interested but starting to lose interest. Chrysler or FCA is really blowing it on several accounts.

    1. Timing - they hyped up the Renegade with all kinds of videos and ads and have been marketing it for well over a year now. They had me from the get go but WAY TOO MUCH time has passed and now there's virtually no word about this Jeep. Their time is WAY OFF and they really shouldn't have even started to talk about this Jeep until it was almost released in Europe let alone the U.S.

    2. Price Point - While I'm glad that they were able to hit the $17,000 base model price point as I expected, I'm a little stunned that their full loaded Trail Hawk is double that price. For how they have been marketing the Renegade with it being some kind of true "off-roader", you're well into a 2-door or 4-door Wrangler at $30,000+. This is WAY TOO HIGH for an entry level Jeep.

    3. MPG - while Jeep was able to make the Renegade hit the 30 MPG mark, up until recently, the impression was always given that it would get well into the 30+ range. As in, even for a daily driving average, we'd be seeing MPG numbers well into it or very close to 30.

Again, I'm still interested but at this point and time, just barely. If it doesn't come out soon, I'll have to move on. Of course, if it does come out and has some kind of stupid premium just for being new and hard to get, I think I'll be done.

I agree with most of what you said. The price point for really rough for me to get past.

It's not priced at an economical daily driver. If the mileage was higher it would be easier to swallow the price tag. The already proven Subaru all wheel drives get better mileage. But they are no jeep :(

I usually buy on impulse. So I'm sure I'll get one anyway !!

I really feel for you jeep enthusiasts who have been let down quite badly by fca.
I have noticed the original excitement and clamour for information and photos.
Has been replaced with an empty echo of interest.
I too was very surprised by the high price of this jeep.
Only time will tell if they priced it right and if it justifies the cost.
The pricing is just too close to a wrangler.
Which the all new Wrangler will be out next year hopefully.
I do hope you get some news soon regarding delivery of the Renegade.
    Regards Mick

Well I'm still interested, it's just that there's no new info to be found until it finally is for sale in the US. I'm not planning on a purchase till this fall, but wish it would get here so I can take a look, could be I sit in one and hate it, in which case I can move on to finding something else.

Agreed. The MPG were a lot better, it'd be a lot easier to justify the high price tag. Your Subaru comparison is spot on. My bother-inlaw just bought one because he didn't want to wait for the Renegade to come out anymore. He's more than happy with it but then, he's not a Jeep guy.

Like you, I'll still most likely get one anyway but more because I actually like the way they look and it's a lot different than anything I already have.

It's hard to stay excited when you've been waiting for as long as we all have and there's absolutely no real idea when it will come out. Time has a way of getting people to start thinking about other things like - maybe all I need is a Wrangler.

Me too, still interested... for now, but only because I have had a chance to see and sit in one. What I really want is to drive one though.

Agreed, I wanted a Wrangler, but when I saw the Renegade I thought it could be a better daily driver, softer suspension, better fuel mileage, etc. But now, maybe the 2018 redesigned Wrangler is a viable option.

When I was looking what could be done to the Wranger to soften up the suspension I read about long trailing arms and softer tires. Not really knowing much about the Wrangler, do you Wayoflifers know if the suspension can be softened up to be almost as comfortable as the Renegade?
