Are there any Renegade owners with the 6.5 UConnect system like me hoping for Jeep to upgrade the system to support Android Auto and Apple Carplay?

I see the 8.1 system from the Cherokee is slated to eventually be compatible, but the press release I read also said Fiat/Chrysler were looking at other models as well.

It may sound crazy but I'm not buying a renegade 'till this is sorted out. I've got a JK now but plan on trading it in on a renegade.

I did some research and found out that the 6.5 has the same general software (written by blackberry, oddly enough) as the 8.4's that they have announced support for.

Definitely hopefully but will be waiting on that. Hopefully in the 2017's.

With the iPhone iOS 10.3.1, I can use Siri from the steering wheel to send texts, change music...etc. I did have a factory update for u connect on the navi factory receiver. But it all works for me. I can't speak of the android connectivity. Anyone want to comment on that?

Navtool is a nice work-around but having spent $1200 to upgrade to UConnect 6.5 when buying my Jeep, I'm unlikely to drop another $400 for something Jeep should be supporting to begin with. CarPlay came out in 2014, 2 years before I bought my 2016 Trailhawk.

Car play is a nice and would be a welcome upgrade. Now if they could get the Beats system to match the quality and volume found in other 2017 Dodge cars that offer the SAME system that would GREAT!

6.5 with nav here. Wish they had the pandora app on it. I believe the Cherokee has it. Would be nice to be able to get in my reny and have it automatically play my pandora without having to go into my phone every time to start it.

Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are coming Standard on ALL but the base systems on the 2018 Renegade. Even though Jeep is holding back the 2018 release, they have already put the specs on the www.driveuconnect.com website. You just choose systems, 2018, Renegade and you'll see the new head units. The 5" will be standard on all base models and completely new 7" and 8.4" systems will be optional and on upper models. Very nice, but sadly I'm about to buy a 2017... I can only hope a future software update makes the 6.5" carplay compatible.

Yeah I was just reading on car and driver about the 2018 upgrades. I wonder if the 7" UConnect with CarPlay support could be retrofitted into any pre-2018 Renegades. I'm sure it would cost thousands if it were technically possible. I also see the projector beam headlights will be an option in the U.S. now... an update to the 6.5 UConnect seems unlikely; at least one that would bring CarPlay or Android Auto support.
