Has anyone cleaned or had their engine compartment cleaned on their Renegade? Mine has about 3 years of road grime on the surfaces that I would like to get cleaned. I am currently living in an apartment and don't have the facilities to do it. I am thinking of getting it done at a detailer. My question is, if you had it done or did it yourself did the Renegade come through the procedure ok? Any electrical problems or broken pieces after the cleaning. The main reason I am asking is that it seems most detailers will have you sign a liability waiver for cleaning the engine compartment. Any thoughts or comments are appreciated.

There are some really good you tube videos on how to detail your engine, I think one of them is by "Chris Fix". It's not that hard to do!

I have seen a few on youtube but I don't have the facilities to do it with living in an apartment. No access to a hose and we are not allowed to work on cars in the parking lot.

I will probably wind up at my nephew's house to do it. I had watched the Chris Fix video last week and it is pretty straight forward. I'm not really trying to do what did to his Mustang, just want the grime off the surfaces.

go to your local car wash with a bottle of any degreaser / automotive all purpose cleaner, spray down your entire engine compartment and let it sit for 3 to 5 minutes then spray everything down with the pressure washer. Make sure to keep the nozzle back at least 2 to 3 feet and don't directly spray the fuse box or any of the wires coming out of it. Follow those easy steps and you'll be fine.

The wavers at detail shops are due to the high turnover rate with employees, chances are you'll get someone that has never cleaned an engine compartment before so they do those to cover their asses. I used to work at a detail shop and absolutely hated making people sign those, made it so if an inexperienced detailer broke your shit then the shop wouldnt have to fix it for you.

LA's Totally Awesome I feel is better then simple green, but that's just my opinion. I wont use anything else, if you never have used it give it a shot. It is sold at Dollar Tree for $1.
