Hey Y'all, Total noob here. Just purchased a 2018 Trailhawk for the missus. She wanted to get the 1.5" lift and the jeep shop here in San Antonio steered me to Rocky Road. I have spent several hours across several forums and I can't find an answer to my question. The stock tires on the TH are 215/65/17. From what I understand, that is a little larger than the 2WD Renegade. That being said, has anyone here done the 1.5" lift and chose to remain on stock tire size? If so, does it look alright? I'm trying to save a buck or two if I can.
I figured I would self reply. I managed to find some ATP guys who had done their 2" lift and kept the stock tires. They put together a before/after shot showing customers what it looks like to stay with stock tire size. Even though this is a 2" lift, at the very least, it will give you some kind of idea what the setup looks like on stock shoes. Doesn't look half bad, actually! Which is encouraging, because I was hoping to save a little money for now and maybe install new rubber in a year or two. Hope this helps someone as they plan their upgrades!
I put ATP'S 2" lift on mine with the stock tires. Had them on for about 6 mo.'s before put the bfg K02"s on 225 65 17. Which really aren't that much bigger. But the stock 215's didn't look that bad on there I don't think.
Any issues with your lift? I’ve been hearing stories about noises after the lifts, mainly from the sway bar.
Ehh. ? It's not perfect but I like it. Yes the front sway bar links creak a little. Not all the time though. Just like on turns backing out of driveways and such. They creak from the Heim? link. (the ball and socket looking thing) They get dirty and dusty, especially offroading and they start to make noise. I just clean them and hit them with WD40. and it goes away for a while until they get dirty again. I hear no matter what kit you get they all do that.
