I recently read a thread with a link to a site on Mopar to tell you if undated were available for your vehicle. I have to take my Renny in for a warranted repair next week (capless fuel filler shot - what a pain) and asked my service manager about doing the updates then. He told me that the recommend not doing the updates unless you have a problem - that they are not like updates to software on other items and are typically only done when issues arise - this sounds odd to me. I update my camera and my phone and just about anything with a computer in it because new software adds functionality and security. What are your thoughts about this? I'm confused. I have mine updated every chance I get. Every time I go in I have them check. You cannot find out if your Jeep needs updates from the website, that is only for your uconnect radio. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using ToasterJeep mobile app
I too would get the updates. Every time my TH is serviced they automatically install any new updates for mine.
I just had my TH updated campain S45 about 8 modules including the auto box and motor. The gbox has improved shift quality. Sent from my LG-H340n using ToasterJeep mobile app
Hi Eureka Jeeper, I believe the updates you are referring to are a part of our Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs). Your service advisor is correct, updates within TSBs are generally only applied to your vehicle if you are experiencing a concern that they address. However, you can check for any software updates for your Uconnect system by entering your VIN here: https://www.driveuconnect.com/software-update/. These updates you can perform yourself or visit your local dealership for assistance. Please let me know if you have any additional questions! Andrea Jeep Social Care Specialist
[QUOTE="Eureka Jeeper, post: 13015, member: "He told me that the recommend not doing the updates unless you have a problem" " That is not true. I had a booster supply oil leak serviced, they fixed it and then some. They ran 5 "Flash Module" updates on her and now I have an improved rev engine oomph! and to my surprise, it added 4.5 MPG to my average gas consumption. Go figure - I am a happy camper. So it depends on how you "befriended" your dealership service techs. I tried to be on their team instead of whining on what was wrong.
I think it's weird, too. I even offered to pay the labor hours for them to install the TSBs to date on the 2015 Renegade Limited I bought used. No dice.
