anybody have their Crankshaft Position Sensor crap out on them? in older cars if this sensor went out you could still limp at a reduced speed so you could at least get it to a repair shop but with all the electronics nowadays it completely disables the entire system.
The Error code I'm getting is P0335 and everything I can find online is that it's 95% chance it's the Crankshaft Position Sensor and the other 5% consists of it maybe being the entire wiring harness, the ECM or the Timing Belt.
after a day of searching I finally found somewhere that had one of those sensors and I'll be giving it a go after I get off work today and, um, *cough*borrow*cough* a car from work. definitely helps that I work at a car dealership ^_^

Actually, in Wranglers it completely disables the vehicle from starting too, :( Changed more than a few on the trail...

First I've heard of one dying on a Renny though..

actually, I found out last night, after replacing that sensor, that it's more then likely the ECU, every error code in the book flashed across my dash when it wasnt cutting all power, restarting, telling me that I wasn't in park when I was. Oh, and now my scan tool is showing NO codes, fuck me

it's been couple weeks so i figured I'd update with what actually broke. ECU, TCU, Main wiring harness and the engine seized.
Insurance thankfully is covering it and I managed to scrape together enough to cover the premium. I'm hoping to have it back within the week.

Also very recently found out, like, in the last hour or so, they also had to replace the starter and a cracked air intake

Did the cracked intake cause some of these problems or was it just replaced because it was cracked? Read a couple of people having a cracked air intake tube, and we have one as well. We were able to put some 3m tape around it right now to keep it from rattling, but ordered a new one. Was just curious.

honestly I have no idea. Trying to get either the dealership or the insurance company to tell me anything about what was happening was like getting a squirrel trained to draw me a map to where it's acorns were buried.

Lol, that sounds horrible...for anyone following this thread or asking about the cracked air induct tube, the part number to replace ours for 2.4L was 68256369AA. found it on one of the Mopar overstock websites for $50 plus shipping.

If that is the intake tube that is in the fender, don't waste your money on it. Some folks remove that piece to allow for more air intake.

lol, on some cars, removing that piece is a performance upgrade (by removing the resitictive air flow into the engine).

The only air intake tube to worry about would be the one that runs between the air filter box and the throttle body.
