My '18 was due for oil change at 9,430 miles. I just had it done this morning. 5.5 quarts of 0w20. I did not get an indicator message, I just old schooled it and changed at the window sticker indicated interval. So, what do I do when/if the service message appears?

There are two reset procedures floating around in this and other forums. The first is "press the run button without starting the engine, press the accelerator down three times slowly within 30 seconds and press the run button again to turn off . The second is to press the run button without turning on the engine and pressing and holding down the accelerator for 30 seconds, take foot of the accelerator and then tap the brake pedal and turn off the run buttong.

So, what the heck do I do? what procedure do I follow? If I change the oil before the service message appears do I reset anyway?

Yikes, a little help or clarification from my learned colleagues please.

I changed mine twice already before the service message appears. The first procedure is the correct way to reset it. Just reset it.

I use the /what works for me is: press the run button without starting the engine, press the accelerator completely down three times slowly within 5 seconds and press the run button again to turn off.

YES, I change my oil every 5ooo miles, and I reset the oil service message before it ever appears.

    Thanks for the answers.

Another question. Is there any disadvantage to using a die cutter and making a hole so that the bash plate doesn't have to be taken off to change the oil filter? I understand the value of the bash plate but damn that is a stupid way to service your engine.

One other question, are there any after market bash plates made for the rear differential/transfer case?

No real disadvantage. Just the mindset, that if you can reach the oil filter, so can other things.

I am using the American Trail Products Center Bearing Skid plate and their Rear Differential Skid Plate. I really like them.

Valkyrie Offroad has skid plates also. Their Engine/Transmission Skid plate has a removable access cover to get to the oil filter.

Their skid plates come Coated or Non-Coated which effects the price.

    Hello,

    Maybe different because i have a MANUAL 4x4 Limited 2.0 ...?

I tried several times to reset the message "oil change required" after changing my Oil and filter but it keeps popping up when engine runs.

Pedal reset does not work and my Foxwell NT530 tool is probably not able to reset the message, I could reset only the daschboard counter miles and remaining service days.

-think this is an Engine ECU
    -Anyone with a NT530 Foxwell

SO, is there anyone who can help me?

    Kind regards,
    Glenn

2015 and early 2016 Renegade's do not have to option to reset the "oil change required" message.

The fix from the dealer to a software update that removes the "oil change required" message altogether (you won't see the message again).
