Back in March, I took my Desert Hawk in to get a warped MySky Panel fixed. They ended up replacing the whole front part of the MySky. All was good until last night. I was driving down the freeway and there was a loud bang like something hitting my roof. Only it wasn't anything hitting me, rather the front panel infront of the MySky coming off. Luckily no one behind me was hit by parts flying off my car. It looked like this piece was just glued on to the Jeep.

Took it to Jeep service today and they said they had never seen anything like it. Ordered the part and will fix it for me. Will be interesting to see the fix and if it is simply glued on. There has to be something else holding this down I would think.

Oh well, consider this a public service announcement and hopefully just a really weird one off situation.

Those look like the same type of clips that hold the fender trim on the sides. Perhaps the little pocket on that trim piece came apart and allowed it to fly off? Glad no one was hurt.

I had to get my entire My Sky roof replaced a few months back, dealership broke it while checking out the tracks the front piece slides on. I never had any issues with any of the trim pieces but sure enough, that very same piece that came off on yours is now starting to bow and warp on mine, time to go back to the dealer........again.

Ugh, good luck. So far so good on the replacement piece for me. It is still attached to the car.

mine bowed in as your guys described... used a heat gun to soften things up and just pushed it back into shape. So far so good.

Different problem with mine. I opened it while doing errands. When I got to where I was going I went to close the roof. There was a loud pop and a "U" shaped plastic piece landed in my lap. I let go of the button and went directly to a Jeep Dealer. The service adviser said he had no appointments until the 21rst of this month but got a mechanic to come and see if he could get it closed. It turns out he lifted the glass from the inside and pushed the retract button and eventually got the roof to close. They are going to replace the entire movable portion of the roof. Wish me luck.

    Dealer Woes...aka: this is bullshit.

Well, my Rene went for repairs to the MySky because it quite wanting to close. I stopped and made the appointment nearly a week and a half ago for 7:30 am this morning. I was there at 7:00 am and the Jeep was checked in and I was given a ride home by the dealerships shuttle. Cool right?

Wrong. No word from them so I called at 2 pm and asked if it was done, the service adviser said he hadn't been informed of the progress but would check and call back. He didn't.

I called at 3 pm and asked for the shuttle to pick me up and bring me back to the dealership. When I got there I waited my turn to see the service adviser and of course asked about the work progress. He said "let me check" and walked off. First mistake, he should have done that an hour ago and called me back.

When he did come back he offered that service hadn't even pulled the Jeep into the service department to look at it today. That was mistake number two.

He then offered a rental car for two days on their dime which I accepted. I immediately asked when was the Rene going to be done. He said he didn't know. Mistake number 3. Why didn't he know?

He added it may not make it into the shop until the end of the week...WHAT? Mistake number 4. If this crap is the kind of service I can expect then I am afraid I am not very impressed.

This is the first #Mopar product I have ever purchased, it may be the last unless they get their crap together. This sucks. Aren't service appointments made to.....ummmmm to have the work done? I mean, this is a warranty issue. It should be given some priority in my mind. What am I missing? This is one of the largest most respected dealerships in Tucson. What's wrong with this picture?

I received a call this morning regarding the MySky on my Rene. It seems that the entire roof will require replacement. Two weeks to get the part and four to five days in the body shop for removal and replacement. I did reach out to Jeep Cares yesterday, now I'm wondering if that is what got em moving. If so, thanks.

The ongoing saga that is the MySky roof on my 18' Renegade TH.

As noted above the dealership ordered a new roof in it's entirety on the 7th of January. It was received at the dealership last Wednesday the 29th of January. I was told that I would be scheduled for installation on the 4th of February. After I was told this I received a quick callback saying that the "specialty shop" that would be repairing my Jeep was booked up until the 10th and they have me booked for that date.

"Specialty shop?" I'm a little concerned about this. I worked at a dealership many years ago. What this meant is that the dealership would send a car to a specialty shop to be repaired because either of two things. a) the dealership didn't have the qualifications to do the repair correctly or, b) the labor to make the repair would be too expensive for the dealership to absorb under warranty and they put it out to bid.

No matter which it is I think nearly a month for a repair is on the edge of being too long. However, I don't have much of a choice.

That's crap that it's taking this long, But I sincerely hope it's "a)", I gotta think a major panel replacement like that would be sent out to a professional collision shop, as it requires careful panel alignment and sealing, I think I'd rather a body shop do that kind of thing than even the most competent of mechanics in a dealership, rebuilding an engine is an entirely different art form than replacing a roof.

On the other hand, it definitely could be "b)", but I sure hope not!

"As the Renegade Turns" - My ongoing Renegade saga

    MySky issue
    - Well after three and a half shop days our 18' TH was ready to be picked up this afternoon. The entire MySky roof was replaced ( I was told that parts and labor approached $5K). We'll see where this goes from here (meaning will it stay fixed?) I was advised to pull maintenance on the MySky by clearing crud out of the tracks, cleaning them and lubing with dielectric grease. Not a problem, I am a fanatic cleaner anyway.

Shifting issue - The Rene shifted a bit strange since I have had it. I passed it off to the quirky transmission and it seemed normal from all the forum posts I've read regarding harsh or lagging shifting. The service adviser told me they updated/re-flashed (something) the shifting module perhaps?. Holy buckets what a nice difference in shifting. It shifts immediately now no lag with smooth and immediate shifting.

Oil consumption Test - Now for a potential downside. I have had two oil changes since we purchased back in October. We now have 12,490+/- on the vehicle now. I changed it the first time because we bought it as a demo model and I didn't trust that it had been changed when we picked it up and a second time when we flogged the Rene hard on the Arizona Freedom Trail for nearly 90 miles. Each of time the Rene was down about a half quart. I told the service about this when I dropped the Jeep off. So, they set up a oil consumption test.

The test (at this dealer) is set up by changing the oil and filter and bringing the oil level to the "full" mark. They then tamper proofed the dipstick and oil pan drain nut. I have to take it back in 1,000 miles. If low when I come back, I was told they will likely change the engine out. The service adviser said that the 2.4 liter engine is exhibiting this behavior (no news to those of us on the forums). We'll see where this goes from here.

By the way, they did an outstanding job replacing the roof. No screw ups that I can tell and the paint and body are fine. I opened and shut the roof at least a dozen times before I left the dealership.

Somebody on another thread said "Jeep Cares." It turns out they were correct. They really do (until the warranty runs out at least).
