Hello, have a 2016 Trailhawk that the motor is toast. Out of warranty blown hose major overheat wouldn't start after several hours and after adding coolant its in the cylinders trashed!Does anyone have maybe a semi step by step guide to a motor change? Have changed motors in different vehicles but nothing this new or front wheel drive. Any go to guide would be appreciated. Thanks
Drain the coolant, disconnect the hoses and harness connectors. Jack it up and support by the frame just behind the engine cradle. Disconnect the struts at the top, hang the brake calipers by the inner fender, disconnect the steering shaft from the rack and pinion, and rear drive shaft. Support the engine/transmission cradle, remove the bolts 4 or 6 (I cant remember) to the cradle and lower the engine, transmission, struts, and spindles as an assembly. **-ish
Ah I was afraid it needed to come out thru the bottom. I have a hoist but no lift so that puts me at a real disadvantage
Prob not the safest way but, lower the engine assembly and then use the hoist and raise front of the Renegade high enough to pull the powertrain clear, then lower the Renegade back onto the jack stands.
Just pull off the entire front, pull the axles, and hoist up the motor. You shouldn't *have* to lower it out the bottom.
