How did you find your Renegade?

I'll start. I grew up in a Jeep family. We had a 99 WJ back in the day, then went Jeepless for a few years and in 07 my parents bought a Liberty for my dad with the intention it'd become mine. It did in 2013 when I got my licence. (my dad then got a WK). We took the KJ everywhere and it's been my best friend....did lots of mods on it and made lots of memories!

Fast forward to last fall, I was getting ready to graduate college and had always planned on treating myself to a new Jeep as my present to myself. The Liberty had over 200k miles on it and I wanted to be able to give it a rest. Not in a million years will I get rid of it though. I had been looking at my options for a new Jeep - something that would feel like a new Liberty. My dad has a KL Cherokee and I briefly toyed with a Trailhawk KL, but as nice as they are, it just didn't feel like a good boxy Jeep. I finally committed to getting a Renegade, as I had been eyeing them for a few years since they came out. I spent many hours looking at dealers for what I wanted - a sting gray Trailhawk with leather and the panoramic sunroof. Nothing else. I found one at a dealer a few hours away from me that was exactly what I wanted and had spoken to them on the phone about it, but was turned off by the sales manager. I went to my local dealer and described what I wanted, they found one a few hours away. I didn't think anything of it. We agreed to a price quickly and I signed the buyers order for them to do the transfer. I got a call the next day from my salesman and he said the dealer won't transfer it because they had someone call on it from my town - I quickly told him it was me. The owner of my dealer ended up getting involved and got them to do the transfer. I took delivery of it the day after my birthday - gonna be hard to live up to that birthday again!!!! Looking forward to decades and hundreds of thousands of miles of fun with the Rene. It feels like a new Liberty and I can't wait to keep building my Jeep collection!

I jumped in with both feet.

I too have had Jeeps in the past, 1950 Willys and a 1951 M38A1 (both highly modified; I can’t help it). Loved them.

I saw a commercial on the TV in 2015 for the all new Renegade. I was in need of a daily commuter with off-road and snow driving capabilities.
I liked the way the new Renegade looked, so I started fishing on the internet and picked up a 2015 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk in Smurf Blue. Went to the dealer and signed the paperwork.

Easiest vehicle purchase I ever made.

A year later, I took Blue in for some software updates and ended up trading it in for a fully loaded 2016 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk in Black.
… the rest is has been posted on the forum.

Friends of ours had bought an orange Latitude and we were really impressed with it on our outings with the photography club. It took us places our Ford Focus couldn't get to. We are also into fishing and thought the Renegade was just the right size with capabilities we liked, go on beat up dirt roads and sand beaches. We wanted to get a Trailhawk but none were available at the time. We did wait a month to get one but when they started to show up they were all fully loaded including the Mysky which we definitely did not want. So we got our Sierra Blue Latitude and it has been great, it has fulfilled our needs and has taken us places that have been a lot of fun. Next week is a spa day for our Renegade, getting all new drivetrain fluids (transmission and differential) and brakes/rotors. 90K on the originals so I think it is time for new brakes, they don't owe us anything. Probably spark plugs too. I was going to do my own plugs but at the moment I am on restricted activities and can't do much of anything, can't even fish . That's our Renegade story.
