    Trying to decide on a lift for my 19 TH. I only want an inch or 1.5". I'm wondering how the avid 1.5", daystar and terraflex kits compare, or getting Eibach coils. I have a lifted Liberty, and at least with those we consider the spacer lifts junk. The stock suspension was weak on those and they sagged inches, and the spacer lifts only made it worse. The proper lift was getting stiffer springs from OME and OME or Bilstein shocks. I did that on it and it was a total upgrade! Are spacer lifts the same deal here or is the OEM suspension improved on these?

    That being said, what is the best lift in terms of maintaining or improving the ride/handing and not having to lower the drivetrain or exhaust and not putting more strain on the vehicle? I only plan on running 225/65/17s, which I could do stock. I just want a little more clearance under the rear diff. Not planning on running a winch or non-stock bumpers.

    Thanks!

    I Liked the AVID or the American Trail Products (ATP) 2 inch lift. Not a bad install. It can easily be done in a day (I say that having a mechanical background).

    The springs will firm up your ride if you are not adding additional weight.

    225/65R17 will fit without any modifications.

    Hi, which kit from Avid would you recommend (they have 2.5”, 2”, and 1.5”).

    I've got the Daystar spacer lift and Eibach springs in the rear. If I had it to do over again, I would go with the Avid 2.5" and probably still add the Eibach springs in the back. Nothing against Daystar, but they were the first real lift option for the Renegade and I think the price reflected that. Once everyone else started coming out with lift kits, the prices came down.

    Back to the original question. If I were you, I would stick with stiffer springs. Any lift is going to effect ride quality and handling. Springs simply raise where the vehicle rides while keeping all the original suspension geometry. The spacer lifts move the suspension away from the car and can have more of an effect. But either way, get an alignment done after any suspension changes.

    Thanks for that.

    Anyone running the Avid 2.5” lift together with springs?

    I want to do a lift to run 29-29.5” tyres but am also concerned if I lift too much that things will start to break or wear down quicker.

    W E L C O M E ! ! ! to the forum.

    IF you are only going to do a suspension lift, and NO springs, 2.5 inch.

    Why I went the route I did; The 2.5 inch kit from AVID and the 2 inch springs from ATP is the only true way to get a 4.0 inch lift on a Trailhawk (because the Trailhawk's stock springs have a .8 inch lift from the factory).

    IF I wasn't going to go with the 4 inch setup, I would choose the AVID 2.5 in kit.

    Many thanks.

    I see that you also replaced your shock absorbers on your TH. Is that needed if you go for the 4 inch setup?

    No, not necessary.

    Shock and Struts are recommended maintenance at 50k. Since I had to take the strut assemblies apart anyways, and I was at 50k, why not.

    Thanks again.

    If I get the Avid 2.5” lift will it affect CV angle, suspension geometry or other issues?

    I also want to get the Avid Radius Front bar, and rear bar. With that extra weight do you think I’ll need new (taller) springs?

    Bar?? or bumper?

    If you add the AVID bumpers and used the stock spring, if would definitely make for a soft ride.

    Adding a lift kit, front and rear bumpers, rock rails and a winch added a little more then 900 pounds to the Renegade.
    I believe that the stiffer rate of the ATP springs complimented the ride quality of the additional weight. My Renegade road great.

    Adding 900 pounds to the Renegade and using the stock spring might have give you a loose feeling ride. ... and may have a little sag from that added weight and you might loose a little bit of you lift.

    If I were to build again:
    AVID front and rear bumpers (Radius);
    Warn Winch (VR-8);
    Rocky-Road Outfitters Kicker Rock Rails;
    ATP Springs (because I like the Red, I like the ride, and would help support the additional weight).
    + all of the little add-ons that come up along the way (lights, roof rack, tools etc.).

    ... and if I needed more lift...
    AVID Budget 1.5″ Renegade Lift Kit would be an easy add-on at a later date, if needed.

    ** keep in mind.
    Suspension lift is relatively easy to do.

    Spring lift is more work and special tools are required.

    Thanks. I’m thinking of getting the Avid bumpers.

    Do you happen to know if the ATP springs are the same height as the Eibach springs for the TH?

    and do I understand it right that the Avid 1.5” (or any other spacer lift) lift doesn’t alter the CV angles but changing to taller lift springs does?

    No, not true. a lift is a lift and the CV angle is going to be effected.
    Anytime you push the lower control arm away from the frame/unibody, you are going to change the CV angle.
