Cross posted from another forum........My 2019 w/1.3T now has 1600 miles on it. I went to the dealer and purchased the factory oil filter and 5 qts of Mopar 0w-30 oil, to the tune of $85. Ouch. I have noticed the little motor getting noisier in the top end. Much more so than when I drove it off the lot, so I thought, maybe I'll change the oil and get the break-in oil out and remove the filter that likely has a mixture of assembly lube, fine metal shavings from initial machining, and maybe even a bit of dried silicone leftover from assembly. I'm glad I did. The oil was much darker than I had expected it to be with so few miles, and the consistency seemed somewhat "watery". With new oil and filter installed, she is MUCH quieter running now. Has anyone experienced anything like this on their 1.3T? You can bet I'll be hanging on to the receipt for the new oil and filter, if there is an issue down the road.

I don't have the 1.3 but thanks for posting, good info for those that do have the 1.3L.

I don't have the 1.3T either, but it sounds like the break-in oil did it's job.

I first changed mine at 2700 or so and used Mobil 1 AFE 0W30. Didn't notice a difference in mine or even now with 6400 miles on it. Probably due for another change soon.

I would agree that the break-in oil did what it was supposed to. Sorry if you are not new to turbo engines, but with all that extra compression and heat, oil breaks down much more than it does in a naturally aspirated (NA) engine. Your oil will always come out black and it is imperative that you change the oil consistently and do not allow it to go far over when it requests a change (or every 4k miles if you want to be OCD which isn't a bad thing). The other thing is that you should be very conscientious about checking oil level. Every 1000 miles, I would yank that dipstick. Mine is a 1.4L, but I know that every one to a couple thousand miles, I always need to top it off a bit. I also have just shy of 75,000 miles, so it could be that mine is just starting to eat a bit more oil as it gets up there, but better safe than sorry.

Circling back on this now. I currently have just under 3500 miles on the little Jeeplet at this point. When I did the initial oil change at 1600 miles, I could not find the correct weight oil and the right filter for the 1.3T, so I went to the dealer and spent ~$85 on oil and filter. UGH! Won't do that again. At least the chore of doing the oil change was really easy. That said, with ~1900 miles on this oil change, I checked the level yesterday morning. I am down about 1/3 of a quart, according to the dipstick. I am hoping that the consumption I am seeing is tied to the break-in of the engine, and will not be an ongoing issue. I'll change the oil again when I hit 5000 miles, and do it every 5000 miles thereafter. This motor is still surprisingly noisy, but it does provide a good combination of power and economy.

    That Is about right.
In my opinion, up to 1 quart of oil every 3000 miles is about what you could expect. Any more then that and I would start to worry.

Every 5000 mile for an oil change with synthetic oil is perfect. I do the same thing.

I have the Wave Program, so I take my jeep in every other oil change just for the free oil and filter. It seems that after about a week of driving I always have to add about a half a quart of oil. Maybe the dealer just doesn't top off the oil when they do their service ( I will change my oil and filter, start the vehicle and let it run for two (2) minutes, shut it off and let it set for one (1) minute and then verify the oil level (top off as necessary)).

According to the manual, the Jeep should tell you when you need to change the oil. The only reason I follow this is because I'm not running my Jeep hard, through the desert or anything like that, and that's what the warranty requests. It seems to actually do a pretty good job of knowing when it needs to be changed, I feel. I also check every 1k-2k miles for adding oil. It does tend to eat a bit. I always have a full gallon on hand, so it gets what it needs.

And yea, just buy the filter from NAPA. Their gold line is what I would recommend. You can buy the same filter online directly from Wix, if you want to save some money, but it's just as easy to go to NAPA and pick up oil and a filter. If you're using the MOPAR spec oil, you won't find it at NAPA, just fyi.
