Wondering if anyone else has had issues, Oil cooler ruptured sending oil into coolant system, engine overheated, no warning indicators till hot engine warning, about 5700 miles. Vehicle out of service since 7/11/16, per jeep all parts are on backorder and not available to ship till 7/20/2016. Jeep Care involved. I live in freaking Dallas/Ft. Worth no parts in the USA? I could understand if I lived under a rock in Borneo.

Hopefully overheating hasn’t caused any long term engine issues.

Not impressed with Fiat/Chrysler at this point.

I'd be talking to them about a full engine swap. Not just a long block but a full manifold-to-manifold swap. It would be much faster to replace a full engine assembly then it would be to tear down an engine to the long/short block and then re-assemble.

The argument for a full engine replacement, beyond the labor time they would save, is that you have no idea if water got into the engine oil. Did a bearing get spun or damaged? Did the water/oil mix with high heat create any sludge in any internal oil galley-ways that could cause internal damage later down the road? Valve guides, cylinder wear, cam galling? Without tearing the engine all the way down, there's no way to determine the extent of the damage to the individual parts.

Only you know how far, how hot things got. Was it quick and just a few minutes when you noticed or did the engine boil off and that's what caused you to look?

Can't get a full engine swap, how about a lifetime (max care) warranty, or at least cover the engine for as long as you own the car. You may not get anything other than a fixed oil cooler, but it's worth the ask.

Seems FCA has a ZERO inventory when it comes to anything they build. Went thru this with mt mini van too. That is exactly why they refuse to do recalls because they keep ZERO parts on hand.

Well as an update the 2016 Sport 4x4 that had this issue got totaled in the 2017 massive hail storm in North TX. So recently replaced the 2016 with 2017 Desert Trail Hawk

PS also purchased a Hail No protector.
