For those of you interested in the Jeep Renegade, there are 2 new models that will be introduced at the 2016 L.A. Autoshow and the first of which is is the Deserthawk and the second, the Altitude. The Deserthawk is the one I'm most interested in being that it's built off the Trailhawk, designed to spend time on the trail and if you can believe it, will come with rock rails and priced at just $28k! Check out the official press releases provided by FCA.

The Jeep Renegade Deserthawk takes the Renegade Trailhawk’s rugged appearance and best-in-class capability a step further with exclusive features and functionality inspired by the desert – an extreme location where the legendary capability of Jeep vehicles is best expressed.

Available in Alpine White, Anvil, Black or Deserthawk-exclusive Mojave Sand, the Jeep Renegade Deserthawk features fully painted 17-inch black wheels, exclusive hood and rear body panel decals, rock rails and Trailer Tow Group. Inside, the Renegade Deserthawk features an exclusive interior with black leather seats, Light Frost stitching and accents, all-weather floor mats and cargo tray mat.

The Jeep Renegade Deserthawk, like the Renegade Trailhawk, delivers best-in-class Trail Rated 4x4 capability with standard Jeep Active Drive Low with 20:1 crawl ratio; Selec-Terrain system with exclusive Rock mode; 8.7 inches of ground clearance; skid plates; signature red front and rear tow hooks; up to 8.1 inches of wheel articulation; Hill-descent Control; up to 19 inches of water fording; and up to 2,000-lb. towing capacity. The Renegade Deserthawk comes standard with a 2.4-liter Tigershark engine with MultiAir2 paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission, ParkView rear backup camera and 7-inch full-color thin-film transistor (TFT) cluster display.

Arriving at dealer showrooms in January 2017, the Jeep Renegade Deserthawk limited edition will be available for a U.S. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $28,140.

Joining the other Altitude models across the Jeep lineup, the 2017 Jeep Renegade Altitude features a unique “blacked-out” look with a distinct, aggressive flair. Available in all exterior colors, the Jeep Renegade Altitude features 18-inch Gloss Black wheels with Gloss Black accents around the exterior, including the front and rear badges, grille rings and tail lamp rings.

Inside, the Renegade special edition’s blacked-out theme continues with a black interior, black premium cloth seats and High Gloss Black finishes. Metal Diamond accents are found throughout on key touch points, such as the shifter knob and door handles.

The Jeep Renegade Altitude, based on the Renegade Latitude model, is available with either a 2.4-liter Tigershark engine with MultiAir2 paired to a nine-speed automatic transmission, or a 1.4-liter MultiAir Turbo engine with a six-speed manual transmission. The Renegade Altitude comes with a variety of standard features, including ParkSense rear backup camera and Keyless Go.

Arriving at dealer showrooms later this month, the Jeep Renegade Altitude model will be available starting at $22,390 U.S. MSRP.

Now if they'll just get us a #%&! part number on their rock rails...

The only things that "Deserthawk" offers that we didn't get on our Trailhawk are the rocksliders and the tow package. I added the hitch and wiring myself.

If they *really* want Deserthawk to appeal to people that actually live in the desert they'll start painting the roofs white or body color.

Just purchased a 75th Anniversary Edition two weeks ago and couldn't be much happier. My only suggestion would be to tweak the programming to downshift ever so slightly sooner when starting a grade as at 65mph and 1500 rpm the tranny lugs the engine down to nearly 1300 rpm before shifting, at which point it is forced to downshift two- three gears to accelerate back to the cruise-control-set speed, depending on the steepness of the grade.

Have a 650-mile run scheduled next month on I-81 through Virginia where I'll get to see how it does on steeper grades and what kind of economy to expect over the road. (I usually manage 10%-20% better than EPA but the new EPA calculations appear much more accurate than before.)

Like the DesertHawk hood map, tinted windows, not sure about the star and the black leather seats, would have liked a compass rose and also sand color fabric interior for hot weather.

Biggest problem with interiors these days is they seem to be using fabrics that, while more comfortable to the touch, do not handle dirt so well. This is not a uniquely Chrysler problem, mind you. I've been browsing car-part.com for used auto parts for Renegades, and the non-black interiors look pretty rough on some fairly new vehicles. Granted, these vehicles have been crashed, but still, stains and discoloration shouldn't be so evident. The black interiors seem to hide it a little better than the rest.

I guess automakers don't see a market for lighter-colored durable interior upholstery at the expense of some comfort.

Not sure about the picture above, but other pictures of various Desert Hawk promo vehicles are wearing Falkens.

Don't count on a production vehicle to necessarily wear the same tires as the show vehicle. Don't even count on them all wearing the same tires in a production run, you might only be given a size, not a brand. A manufacturer might change suppliers without any notice.

    Thanks! I found it

I asked to look for them and try on my trailhawk. I live in europe (Spain) and its hard to find some good offroad tyres that look good on the renegade without getting spacers or a lift.

    Thanks again.

The rock rails can be found on the Mopar website. I believe they're around $800.

I was just on the Mopar parts/accessories website on Thursday and I browsed all three model years without seeing anything about them. If they're available then FCA is doing a damn good job of hiding them.

If you have a direct link I would be happy to check it out.

I'm new here but just purchased my deserthawk yesterday and so far I love it. I can't seem to figure out how to make pictures smaller to post a pic but as soon as I do I'll post some.
