Hi all, I had the Avid Essentials rear bumper with hitch and recovery points installed about a year ago and haven't used it much. I recently installed a hitch cargo carrier and immediately noticed the hitch and bumper pulling away from the frame of vehicle (or the frame is flexing?) I do not want to return to the shop who installed the bumper (another story). So, I'm about to troubleshoot the problem myself. I have the manufacturer's pdf instructions, but they are complete crap and not helpful at all

    The problem:

Does anyone know of a link to anyone's installation photos and notes? Im looking for something more detailed to reference as I figure out what is loose or flexing.

I just ordered one of AVID’s rear bumpers. When it comes in I am going to do the install myself. I didn’t see any videos on the AVID rear bumper install, so maybe I will make one.

It really looks like the mounting bolts just need to be re-torqued.

Place a jack under the bumper to make it level, and retighten the mounting bolts.

You should be good to go.

I am having this same exact problem. Did you install the original support bars that came with the bumper, or did you go without them? I went without them and now my bumper is pulling down as well.

also did you find a solution to your problem. Please let me know.

I went with the same bumper. I tow some heavy stuff and I did not have any issues with the bumper pulling away.

After you get the bumper LOOSELY installed and fitted to where you want it (if you have the spare tire carrier, and have verified the alignment of the swing arm), then go ahead and tighten the mounting bolts at the frame.
After everything is tight and looking good, re-tighten the frame mount bolts after about a tank or two of fuel (500-600 miles), and then check them again is about a year to make sure they stayed in place and tight after it has had time to settle.

I am still having the same problem and have tried checking all the bolts and they all seem to fit well. This is my current problem with not having any weight on the bumper at all.
