Anyone Know what is the biggest tire size I can run on my trailhawk with the daystar Lift? I want to only use spacers and not do the pinch seam trim mod

The pinch seam mod is super simple and definitely worth being able to run bigger tires. Finding cool tires in our tire size range is already tough without it.

Every tire made by different manufacturers will all have an actual size that is different from one another EVEN IF they state the same size on the sidewall of the tire. What I can tell you is that some tires like BFG's tend to be on the smaller side and others like a Toyo will be on the tall side. That being said, my 225/75R16 Cooper STT Pros have an actual measurement of about 29" not mounted on my Renegade and using a tape measure to the tallest point on the center of the tread. At this size, I had a considerable amount of rubbing at about half way through a full turn of the steering wheel. I was able to address this by trimming the pinch seam but just barely.

@wayalife - so you are using 29" tires with the 1.5" lift and 1.25" spacers... It appears that the biggest challenge you are facing is the width (front to back) than height - thus the pinch weld mod. Did you check and see if the 29" tires would work with spacers without the lift?

Just trying to figure if I can only do one right now, which one to do:

    A) new 28.8" rims and tires on spacers first (but lose some travel distance - if you think they will fit), or

    B) lift kit and suffer with the tiny factory Trailhawk rims and tires until I can grab the lift.

    Thanks!

I'm in the same spot, and I'm leaning towards option B right now. The TH wheels don't look bad with just the lift, it will have the improved ground clearance from the lift, and I can start saving for tires as soon as I get it installed.

    Hi there,
I'm writing from Italy and I'm the happy owner of a Trailhawk, of course in Euro standard (2.0 diesel 170 hp).
I have installed a lift of only 1' (2,5 cm) and spacers (2 cm front, 2,3 cm rear).
I'm trying to figure out if BF Goodrich 225/70 R16 ALL TERRAIN KO2 will actually fit to my car without rubbing and without being dangerously close to the front strut.
Thanks to anyone so kind to reply.

My dialy tires are bf all terrain 225/70/16. No spacers. No trouble. No problem. Like a stock tire, small! Bigger is 225/75/16.
