So my search begins when I started looking for front towing options for my (obviously non TH) 2017 Limited Renny.
Mopar offers TH looking hooks for non TH models, together with the brackets it will cost around $600.

I don't think I've ever seen anybody who has done this.

The other option is to add a strong bull bar, and tow from the bull bar. Daystar has a nasty looking winch bumper that has D-ring option. To get everything shown in their pic I am guessing at least $1000, not including the winch and lights :

Daystar also makes a smaller bull bar for $250 :

At this point, I thought, why can't we just drill a hole on the bracket (in front of the 2 bolts) , and put a D-ring thru ?
After another 2 hours of fooling around online, I found this pic :

Didn't look that complicated. It is very similar to the Daystar Bull Bar.
However, the seller of this Chinese bull bar kit DID NOT claim that those red hooks are for vehicle recovery.
There is a new ZL1 tow hook that's mounted on to the bumper itself. They claim that those hooks are rated for 6 tons. In reality, the capacity will be limited by the weld between the bumper and the mounting plate of the vehicle. Jeep never claims that their bumper is rated for vehicle recovery. We can't rely on pulling the front bumper for recovery, as it was designed to take a force towards the vehicle, not pulling away from the vehicle. There are many videos showing the bumper and other "guts" flying out during a pull which we don't want to be part of.

With the D-ring on bull bar setup, the weakest point is the bracket itself. If it fails, the bull bar and the bracket (most likely a piece of the broken bracket) will come flying out while the factory bumper would remain intact. No major damage can occur. This setting gives a much stronger pull than the screw in tow pin option. In my opinion, the force it can take will be on par with the mopar tow hooks, and maybe slightly weaker than the factory TH hooks.

It also gives a place for additional lights, and let's not forget the fact that it's a nice bull bar to begin with.

Seems like I can kill 3 birds with one stone here. To me this is the perfect, middle of the road option for adding front tow hooks.
I haven't seen the installation pic of the Daystar Winch bumper. Judging by it's look, it seems to be the strongest. But then I don't really want a winch and don't plan to spend 2k either.

I am still not fully convinced though. I am writing this to see what you guys/gals think, and help me decide either way.

    Thanks for watching.

The Daystar bull bar does not look as strong as the Chinese version. Others have said the Daystar is not really for recovery. It would be nice if Daystar had a bull bar with the mounting ruggedness of their winch bumper. I would go for that. The Mopar hooks look nice but I think there are other pieces needed to actually make them work. The 2 hooks have different prices????

I have never seen the hooks and brackets listed together as a set like that, that is pretty cool. Would be great if the made it cheaper and sold it as a set like they do for the GC and some other Jeeps. I would like to see someone else do install the Mopar brackets and hooks so I can see how it looks:)
