    Hi All,

    I've heard that many renegades with the 2.4L Tigershark seem to burn a lot of oil. I've personally had to put 3 quarts of oil in between oil changes. (0w-20). And recently my fuel economy has been terrible, even before I put on my BFG KO2's.

    I've just changed the air filter, spark plugs, and switched to 0w-30 synthetic oil. I have around 40,000 miles on my car, and I'm hoping that the slightly lower viscosity will help prevent less burn off.

    We'll see how it goes. Right now I'm averaging 18mpg with mixed driving.

    Anyone else having a similar issue?

    The Tigershark really needs the 0W20.
    There are a lot of internal solenoids (variable valve timing for one) and tight tolerances that will fail with a thicker oil.

    I don't know how to help with your oil consumption, I am not having that problem.

    Maybe a 'High Mileage' oil? High mileage oils have additives that contain conditioners to rejuvenate seals to prevent or stop oil leaks, detergents designed to clean out sludge, plus other additives meant to reduce wear on moving parts.

    For your fuel economy;

    I don't know where you get your fuel. but there are some 'top tier" stations out there... well, their fuel is garbage.

    As an experiment; try going to a Chevron, Shell or even a 76 station and fill up with their gas. Their prices may be a little higher, but their fuel is a better grade.
    I am getting 22 mpg (with K02's) in the mountains, on average using Shell and 76, 24 mpg with Chevron... 16 mpg with Arco (and I am NOT exaggerating).

    Try it for yourself, maybe you just need some better fuel.

    Thanks for the feedback. I'll try some other gas stations and see what the results are. Nice Renegade BTW.

    Hi all.
    I have oil consumption too on 2.4 Tigershark Engine. It's about 600 grams per 2500 km. Oil leak increases with high speed (130+ km/h). It appears the same for two type of oil - "motul ecolite" 0w20 and "Quaker state". In my case that's not so horrible cause user manual mention 400 gr per 1000 km oil consume. My Overall mileage - 78550.
    Also a lot of users mention about 0w20 oil consume. Some of them use 5w30 and it looks like solution for them but I'm not ready to drop 0w20.
    Seems like it's not a trouble if engine burn less than 400 gr per 1000 km.
