Does anyone have any recommendations for foldout tent or mini campers for the toaster jeeps?

Not bad but hoping for something with a little more pizzazz? Trying to see what's out there for mini campers too.

There's always teardrops, but they take a little to get used to, and you really gotta be careful weight wise.

There's little guys t@g for like 12k, I thought about the t@b but it's a little close to the limit.

There's also So-Cal teardrops, they have one with a off road suspension type thing that's 1250, but they're in the 17k area

I've looked into this myself... if I had the funding here's what i'd get... An A-Liner, one of the fixed up ones with hard sides. A Scamp 13 deluxe, although the hitch weight is 45lbs over the Jeep's limit. a T@B trailer, the one with the interior kitchen.... Those models are all hard side, have interior kitchens, and wet baths.

For now, i am limited to using my 8ft box Pop-up camper.... I still haven't towed it yet though because of the trailer hitch recall. It was fixed right as the camping season ended.

Try looking at the Happy Camper website. I don't know how to upload a website. Sorry. They are based in California.

You may want to take a look at Dinoot Trailers. I spoke to Scott via email and he's very helpful. They offer a couple different models that are reasonably priced.

Jeeper, really depends what you are looking for. Budget constraints are what limited me to the pop-up camper. While it's a nice, well equiped pop-up it doesn't have hardsides or a wetbath. Granted every State Park campground I've stayed at has shower/toilet facilites, some people find the wet/bath a "must have." That'd really come in handy if you are dry camping somewhere off the grid.

As for the indoor kitchen. Well, you'll find it to be a "must have" after your first windy camping trip. It'll also take care of any burn bans that may affect your trip.

Hardside... some National Parks have restrictions with softside campers such as pop ups. one is Yosemite and the storage of food. Also, hardside would offer better insulation from the cold/heat.

Another point to consider, is comfort level. 2,000 lbs hardside units are not going to offer a whole lot of interior space.

That Dinoot looks alright but look at what exactly you are paying for... A fancy trailer that is towing a tent. There doesn't seem to be any amenities such as heat/acfridge/etc. You can save a ton of cash by just tossing a tent in the back of your jeep.

So, long story short figure out what your "must haves" and figure out a budget. The units I listed in a previous post are go for 14 to 20 grand new.... prices vary on the used market but these small units seem to hold their value.

I did look into getting a Sylvan sport... but again look at what you are buying... a Fancy tent mounted on a trailer. That doesn't seem to bring a whole lot of bang for your buck for a unit that costs around 8grand.

One unit I forgot to mention is Rivderside Retro RVs... those units weight in right under 2,000lbs dry and have a 220# hitch weight. Again, it's a little heavy on the hitch but not by much. Neat little units for close to 13grand, I saw one and can't say I fell in love with it.

A little heavy on the hitch.... well as one guy once said, people tend to consider those numbers suggestions. Now I am not saying I agree with that mindset but how many times have you seen that giant RV unit going down the interstate dwarfing the tow vehicle. I saw a Kia Soul pulling a Casita 13.... the 2016 Kia Sould isn't rated to tow.

Used pop ups can be found from $800, usually very plain and very old at this price point. $3,000 bucks gets you into nicer used units, some with A/C. And just about all pop-ups can be towed by the renegade....except for the 12footers with wetbaths and all sorts of extras like slideouts.

Yup, fully loaded units are tough to find for the Renegade. There are TONS of light weight options if you limit out some options such as wet/baths and interior kitchens.
