    here's my tip, return it.

I bought the switch pod and immediately called for an RMA after reading the directions and having a look. Here's why.

The switches are fairly stout, deep, not very flush or thin mount. Which means you have to CUT into your A-Pillar to install the switch pod. Ok ok so cutting into plastic is no big deal but here's the thing. The A-pillar AIRBAG sits right behind where you are supposed to drill/cut/and mount the switch pod. And you also have to creatively route the wires to avoid getting tangled with the airbag.

I don't know man, but cutting into the a-pillar and getting close to the airbag just didn't sit well with me.

Personally I like clean installs that are minimally invasive and preserve the stock look.

Here's my solution, a thin toggle switch wired to two relays. switch left = relay 1 = big light bar. Switch right = relay 2 = small top lights. Switch in the Middle = both lights off..... yup, the only limitation to this setup is I cannot have both sets of lights on at the same time. I may paint the red crimps with a black paint to help the wires blend in better. 7342a.jpg IMG_7884a.jpg

I wish I could help you out but I'm not running enough accessories to warrant the need for a switch pod. Like you, I would be interested in seeing how much is involved in getting one installed though.

Being a mechanic it wasn't a big deal for me. I see your frustration and uneasiness with this mod though. I was able to successfully wire in 3 of the 4 switches. (4th soon to come). If the airbag was to ever deploy there is a safety strap attached to the frame to the plastic cover so it doesn't fly in your face. And yes you do need to cut into the plastic cover for these switches to work. Ill attach a pic of what you'll be dealing with once you get the panel off. I was able to run all my wires without seeing any of them. With a little help from Eddy he game me an idea. However I ended up running mine through the inside of the vehicle. Much easier I think.

Is than panel held down with plastic retainer clips? Also, how hard was it to put it back on?
