Sorry for the caps first and foremost. So I have a Renegade limited with 18" in wheels, my wife bought and kids bought me the 1.5" in daystar lift for father's day (they suck at keeping secrets!). My question is this, do I even need wheel spacers if I upgrade to the following: https://www.amazon.com/Touren-Wheel...F8&qid=1466042974&sr=1-14&keywords=touren+TR9 for those not wishing to follow the link it is a Touren TR9 5X5? Next question is what is the largest tire I can use with out the pinch seem mod? There is so much conflicting information out there (toasterjeep forum vs renegade forum) that it is hard to decide. I was a great fan of Project JK which I believe to be a sister site to this that I trust wayalife. Thanks in Advance!
Your stock rims are 6.5" wide with about +35 offset. These ones are slightly wider - 7" and they also have +45 offset. This means that the rim will be closer to the suspension / struts. With this setup you could probably do a maximum of 225 width. Even with this you may need spacers.
assuming I do the spacer that means 225/65/16? I will admit my ignorance when it comes to tire sizing I just want to hit the trails again (traded in my JK for better mileage and lower payment to help my son with autism bills (do what you gotta do for family))
225/70/16 is approximately the same size as 225/65/17 that is confirmed to fit. You should be able to do that. With a spacer you might be able to go wider, but it all depends on the tire manufacturer.
From what I gather, you will need spacers with that wheel to avoid hitting the struts. Also, from what I gather 225/70/16 is about the biggest you can go without trimming stuff. Everyone ive seen that has tried the 225/75/16 has had rubbing issues.
The biggest issue I see is the offset the stock wheels are 40mm and the wheels you are looking at are 42mm so from my understanding you are move the wheel closer to the vehicle and to the strut.
Sounds like I need to find different wheels then perhaps, been tiring to find one that would remove the need for spacers. Thanks for all of the information so far though!
Since you wont have to work around the larger TrailHawk brakes, you just need enough offset in the wheels to clear the strut. What offset that is depends on how wide the wheels are that you choose.
So that is less than factory offset, which is 40mm. That means that it will be closer to the strut, which is not good. So you either want a wheel with more offset(meaning less than 40), or you can run spacers to make up the difference and push the rim out to avoid contacting the struts.
People have confirmed that they fit most models, but I cannot confirm whether or not they will fit TrailHawks with the larger front brakes. My guess is that they probably will, since the Cherokee TrailHawk edition most likely had the same brakes.
I don't have a trail hawk so that is a plus. Seems not only do they have additional offset but back spacing as well which would enact as a spacer. My goal is 235/65/16s so maybe searches for compatible Cherokee wheels would be best
So would 235/60/16 work? Still trying to figure this out. Tires and wheels I am clueless, give me some aviation components and I am golden lol
