Does anyone know of license plate lights that work and don't cause the false error? I tried many sets and none work and Dodge/chrysler refuses to do the software update to fix this false error unless i have the factory lights and it causes the same error (which, no shit, it wouldn't). Just about fed up with the dealership. I've been to two and they refuse to update it for different reasons, only to waste my time driving out to them.
Oh and i just got home from leaving the dealership and one of the leds doesnt work properly and the connector was jammed into the housing that when i pulled it apart with all my might it left the bulb inside the housing. And all of my wiring is exposed now.
So u re saying that even with the oem bulbs it still gives you "BULB OUT" at the dashboard? ? And do you also have LEDs on the exterior anywhere else.? Sent from my SM-G900P using ToasterJeep mobile app
No it goes away if i put oem bulbs in however they will not load the software if it does because of some dumb chrysler nonsense. All the lights were swapped for leds however only the license plate lights give this error and they even said it's a false error
Well thats pretty amazing that you didn't get the "bulb out "error since i did get that with every bulb all around exterior except DRL s Sent from my SM-G900P using ToasterJeep mobile app
With that point, i had to put in load rezistors to where it needed to eliminate that, even for the sidemarkers. For the plate bulbs ,you d need like in my case ,only one load ,equal to the size of the bulb plate wattage, whicin this case was the bulb itself, otherwise a regular load rezistors like for the blinkers system used wont work for the plates bulbs. Only one side it ll be needed . Hope this will be helpful The way i did it was to cut out and tap in to the wires behind the location where u plugg in the bulb and connect it there Sent from my SM-G900P using ToasterJeep mobile app
Once you tapped in and put the led bulb ,then both will litup but u ll give it clean teading to the dashboard [emoji1] Sent from my SM-G900P using ToasterJeep mobile app
Well the led license plate bulbs were working fine until the dealership touched them without my permission. I have to get another set now that one side has 1 led working on the whole circuit and it flickers. They also stripped back the shielding and left that exposed on the right side, where the jammed and bad bulb is. I havent checked the left yet because I've been cleaning the house lol. Truth is i told them to simply load the software that fixes the false error, they agreed and set an appointment for today only to jack with my lights and then tell me they cant do it. I had to get off work early and drive 1 hour to get told no.
O h man sorry to hear that, then gor you was actually easy to have it working, not on mine, and ive tried the canbus ,2 different types still nothing ,thats why i had to do what i didto hav it wrk. anyway the dealerships , especially the one you had to go to , they don't like our aftermarket stuff ,generally they re so stupid they re not even able to handle mopar parts on renegades..lol Sent from my SM-G900P using ToasterJeep mobile app
Same here. I have all the lights replaced with LED except the license plate lights. All the other outside lights worked fine with any "canbus LED" light I used. I tried a couple of different kinds on the plate lights and they all trigger the error. Going to have to finagle something up like Manucrystal this weekend probably.
And if the led lamp goes off, does it still signals as a bad lamp? I'm thinking of changing the lamps to led but if I loose the warning in the display about a bad lamp I not really interested.
I don't know, honestly. Haven't had an LED die yet. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G935A using ToasterJeep mobile app
Could you try to remove the led lamp and check? I think that if you put a resistor it will simulate the load of a lamp and thus not signaling a bad lamp. With resistors we also won't get any efficiency since the resistor just burns energy into heat. . But led lamps are much more nice and durable. I was very surprised to see a modern car with old style lamps... I have notice another problem, each time in auto transmission going from park to drive and vice versa it lights the reverse bulb, that lamp is not going to last much with this. There should be a 1 to 2 second delay before the lamp goes on.
I will see what I can do. I don't know if i have an LED that is going bad or burning out and I really don't want to buy a new one just to ruin it to test it. Maybe my wife's car has some that I put on a while a go that are going bad. And you can buy load resisters to simulate a traditional light bulb, but those need to be mounted to a metal surface to aid in cooling the resistor. With all automatics, the reverse lights will briefly light up when you go from park to drive/drive to park because you have to pass through Reverse. ALL automatics do this across all makes and models if properly working. No way around that. Honestly, I have never had backup lights burn out.
Nope. The only error is "license plate lights out" on the dashboard and i just put in fresh 194 incandescent bulbs
