New ATP 2" Lift Coming

This one is a bit better since I already had the wheels and tires mounted on the Daystar lift... most noticeable is the added rear height and more leveled stance... still took the ATP pic from a higher angle so I'll need to take another

I am looking to do a lift on my TH fairly soonish is the ATP worth the extra $$ than the DS also where did you get it installed?

I honestly think it is... idk why but the DS lift didn't take well and I had to take it to get readjusted 3 times in a year most notably the rear subframe spacers... seems like the extreme summer heat made them contract a hair which was enough to loosen the subframe... these ATP ones are aluminum all around and just the initial impression is that of a higher quality product. Ride improved significantly like day and night difference... just feels more confident

Where did you get it installed if you don't mind me asking?
I put a thread together about locations where lifts were installed in an effort to make it easier for renegade owners looking to lift their vehicles.

Quinto_G, what size tires are those you have on? I have 16" rims and there are many more options of tires if I go up to 225/75/16.

 

255/55R18s on 18x8" wheels

The thought of using aluminum over rubber (at least that's what the Daystar one felt like). <3 <3
Kinda tempting to switch mine out.

 

I just installed this kit and it definitely seems solid. The thing that sold it over the Daystar is the solid aluminum spacer with the stock bracket on the rear control arms.

Now I just have to find a shop that actually has Renegade alignment specs...proving to be more difficult that I had imagined.

 

If it's anything like aligning after installing the Daystar kit, tell them they need to loosen the control brackets, then align, then tighten them. Took them 3 tries before I finally printed out a picture and directions for the mechanic.

 

Thanks for the heads-up, I will definitely let them know. I'm bringing the install instructions with me which also mention the control arm brackets...fingers crossed!

Anyone have any problems with the ATP lift? Looking to get it but if I am hearing horror stories about lifts I don't want to go down that route

 

No problems with the kit so far and I have approx. 4000 miles on it now.

The only issue I had was when I installed the kit I pinched the passenger side front CV boot. I highly recommend removing the three lower steering knuckle bolts when trying to fit the strut back in, or have a mechanic do it for you.

Also, getting the alignment right can be a bit of a hassle because 1: only a few shops (here in Tucson anyway) have the specs for the Renegade, and 2: it takes some convincing to get them to do the alignment correctly, it is not like every other vehicle.

Its a solid kit tho, and I haven't heard of any failures like the infamous Daystar bracket welds.

 

Can you send me some pictures? I thought I saw you driving down the road the other day, I'm also in Tucson, where did you get
your alignment done? Did you put your own lift on?

 

I did install the lift myself, but I did not take any photos during the process. There are plenty of lift kit install write-ups floating around so I didn't bother. Plus the instructions that came with the kit have a lot of photos too! Definitely have a friend help if you do it yourself and mind the CV boots! (I did a short write-up for the CV boot replacement on here for someone else who had the same problem)

Alignment was done at Firestone mostly because I am not too fond of either dealership in town and Firestone has a "lifetime alignment" which is especially nice if you need to have it tweaked later. They did a good job and got everything into spec except the driver side rear toe (its about 0.1° in) and the camber (which even the service manual says is non-adjustable). I haven't noticed any adverse tire wear and the ride is really good. You could definitely tell a difference from before the alignment! I'm sure the rear toe could be brought into spec, but it's not a huge priority at the moment so I haven't taken it back in yet.
