Hello, I am new here, just bought a 2015 Red Jeep Renegade Limited for my daughter, her first vehicle, she loves her little Jeep.

Anyway, have noticed a whine, a noise, like a whistle or like a turbine, like the whine you hear during take off in a plane when the accelerator is pressed.

Problem is easy to replicate, reach a speed of 30 or 35, take the leg of the accelerator pedal, so it's coasting and now gently press the accelerator and this noise appears, anyone has encountered this issue...any ideas what it could be..

I don't know how to attach an audio file but I do have a recording.

No, it's the 2.4 liter with the 9 speed transmission, the dealer is kind of dismissing/brushing off saying these things are generally noisy and not smooth anyway and it's nothing out of the ordinary, I am not buying it as the 2 other Renegades that I took for a test drive did not have any such noise and if there was one, I wouldn't have bought it to begin with.

I have a similar noise accompanied with a vibration when just rollig along coasting. It only happens when i'm doing about 30mph.... first run on any vehicle is a gamble.

I just spoke to the service manager at the dealership, he said he heard the audio recording that I sent him and also did the test drive and acknowledges that there is noise but says it's common and nothing out of the ordinary, vehicle very much within factory specs as far as he is concerned, basically live with it and get used to it...said I can certainly try reaching out to Chrysler but wasn't sure if anything can be done, I guess u r right, first year and first run is a gamble, it's such a beautiful vehicle overall though, want this to succeed in the marketplace, it can't be so hard for Chrysler to just refine this thing.

Dont just deal with it...you paid for a jeep that should last you 10 years with no problems if maintianed correctly.

Take it to a different dealership.

    Hi RedRenegade,

Our engineers just released a repair that may be related to the noise concern you are experiencing. The required repair is a replacement of the Rear Differential Module (RDM). This information is just newly released, so not all dealerships will be aware that this fix is available. If your dealership has any questions regarding the repair, our engineers should be able to assist in answering any questions they may have by reaching out to them directly.

If you need assistance setting up an appointment or have any further questions, please feel free to private message me.

    Thank you,

I reached out to FCA on mopar owner connect and they in turn spoke to the dealer, took a test drive with the service manager yesterday, he heard the drone, the whine, the noise, the hum like that of a turbine or jet engine.

And then we jumped into another
Limited 2.4L, 9 speed, front wheel drive just like what I have and took it for a test drive......and....v heard the same in this as well, not as much as in my vehicle but definitely there. This vehicle only had about 137 miles on it, not sure about the date of manufacture and for how long it has been sitting on the lot.

In my vehicle, It starts around 40 mph and very strong Around 45, 50 mph.

So not sure if the power train is that way, the dealer said they will submit the audio that I gave them to FCA and ask if this is normal.

I have a bad really bad feeling about the fate of these 9 speeds.

I am currently waiting on a RDM to arrive at the dealership for our TH. I am keeping my fingers crossed on the solution. By the way JeepCares helped me with my dealership and things seem to be moving along better since she called them.

    Yah she hates me....

Love to know how this works out for your jeep i was planning on trading in our honda fit on a 2016 trailhawk but seem to be leaning away from fiat after problems with my 2wd renegade.
