The manual says serious transmission damage can accur. With an automatic, that makes sense. With a stick shift, it doesn't I could understand the e-brake activating would be bad, but disabling it would solve that problem. Is there REALLY a good reason I can't flat tow my six speed manual Renegade?
I can't find a technical description for the Renegade to be sure, so this is a guess based on other manuals that I know can't be flat towed; Oil is probably circulated by the transmission primary or secondary shaft, so the the PTU (Power Transfer Unit, think of it as a single speed transfer case) and the differential will likely not get lubrication when flat towed, and bearings and things would burn up when towing any distance...
That's a very good "probably". Does anyone have actual experience towing four down with a stick shift Rennie?
