Anyone else have an issue similar to this?

I went to get in my Renegade Sunday Morning, and noticed that the Back hatch would not open by pushing the button on the hatch. I got in The driver seat, and pressed the Ignition button, but the Renegade did not start, it tried, but would not turn over. My daughter was the last person to drive it, she just wend town the block to a friend's house for a few minutes, and none of the interior lights or Headlight were left on. I could not find anything that could possible be draining the battery.

I looked at the Instrument Panel, and went to the Battery Voltage screen, and noticed that it was in Red and showed only 10.1 volts. I tried to start it again to no avail. However this time i was bombarded with Service ABS system, Service Airbag, Service 4x4, and a bunch of other warnings.

I jump started it with my portable Jump Starter/Power Station, and took off the jumper cables, and the car continued to run. Basically confirming that my Alternator was working properly.

Within 3 minutes, the battery voltage screen was displaying the normal 14.8 volts. I turned the car off, and cranked it back up 4 times with no issues. Thinking it was just a fluke, turned the renegade off, and went back inside.(but thought it strange that it was back up to normal 14 volts within such a short time)

This morning I get in the car, and look at the Battery voltage screen, and see that it is down to 12.1 volts. The Renegade did crank, and was back up to 14v in not time. I left the house and began driving to work. On my way to work, I noticed that My phone was not charging the way it normally does. I can normally run a navigation App while my phone is plugged in, and the phone stay at 100% charge. But it was dropping % consistently as I drove, as if it was not plugged in.

I think i may have a Bad Cell in my Battery, what are your thoughts? Also, do you think the battery would be covered under the Manuf. warranty? 2016 Jeep Renegade Trailhawk 22k miles.

    Hi Silentstryder,

Since you're still within your basic 3/36 factory warranty, your battery may be covered. Your Jeep dealership does need to confirm this and conduct an official diagnosis--let me know if you need any help setting that up!
