I've got about 5k on my TH now, and for the last few thousand miles it has developed a loud rattle that resonates around 2000 RPM. It sounds like an exhaust heat shield rattling, but I've checked and all the exhaust seems pretty solid. It seems like the sound is coming from the passenger side.

Has anyone else noticed this on their TH or other 2.4 engine Renegade? I don't think I remember it being present when I bought it, but maybe it was.

Do you have a hitch? Edmunds had an article on the hitches on the renegade being recalled for only having one nut installed on each side of the hitch, there should be 3 on each side.

Nope, no trailer hitch. Plan on eventually installing one though.

    Hey shea,

Have you addressed this at all with your Jeep dealer? Send me a PM if I can look into this further for you.

I have a 2.4 Renegade, and I have the exact same problem. The first dealership just did a re-flash because they couldn't hear the noise. No luck there. Just had it into another dealership today and they said there was nothing wrong and did a quick learn re-flash. I brought it home and my husband sat in the passengers side with his head out the window. He's pretty sure it's the wheel liner. He found that it's very loose on the passenger side. After stuffing random stuff in the loose areas to make it tighter, it helped. Now to just find the fix. Do I take it to a body shop now? Or are they going to make me look stupid for the third time?
