I am reaching out to other Renegade Owners. I have a 2015 that is under warranty, about 24,000 miles. The Jeep broke down on 8-1-17, started making weird noises and overheating. When I opened the hood all the fluids had been blown out and could not be driven. When taking to the local dealer I was told there were no parts to fix this. They are all on back order and I still have no jeep or updates on when this will get fixed. Almost two months now with no car, no rental, and they wont pay the car payment either.

This definitely sounds like a problem.. there's lemon law I think. That or get corporate involved and figure it out. You shouldn't be paying on a car you can't use.

There is a jeep cares person here you can message to try and get help too

Unfortunately, no one has helped with the issue, not even corporate. They stated we would not get another update until October. I have a meeting with a lawyer tomorrow and putting in a complaint with the Attorney General.

I have a 2015 at 43000k, also with the same problem. Contacted FCA and still nothing. Been a month. I still drive mine with the a/c off. Hasn't overheated as I drive mainly highway, turn heater on high at red lights. I wouldn't recomend it though.

So I guess you are not under warranty then? I would reach out to the attorney general, like I did, and let them know the issue. Jeep has known about this issue and I think there needs to be a recall on these parts to protect the consumer. Mine has been in the shop for almost two months, and no update of when parts coming in.

I agree totally. I was under warranty when I took my jeep in for a transmission issue. I told the service guy about my fan wobbling he said it appeared normal. 6000k later it smoked .bad deal is it wasn't writen up when they did the transmission so my word against theirs. But yes AG.

I believe a class action lawsuit would assist all jeep owners warranty or not. I will ask, I have a meeting with a lawyer tmrw. I also am going to contact my local media outlet and see if I can get a story done on Jeep and not manufacturing enough parts that should have been recalled.

I think the media route is the best short term strategy. Something like a recall or class action suit is important long term to keep everyone whole, but they might get little or no press coverage because of the relatively small number of vehicles involved. So FCA could still drag their behinds in securing replacement parts. But bad press that can somehow be spread around, or a YouTube video or two about the issue that shows up in a search there for "Jeep Renegade", right at the release of the new model year, should inspire them to address things as quickly as possible to quiet the noise down fast. In the world we live in, Twitter and the rest of those things seem to command more attention from companies than traditional channels. While it is nice to have the Jeep Cares folks in forums like this, trying to help, let's not kid ourselves. They are really here to try to keep any potential public relations issues under the radar. Bad word of mouth, or a negative viral video, kills sales faster than anything else.

I believe you are right, I think reaching out to the consumer with a utube video of my Jeep sitting on the lot for 2 months and not being fixed would really draw some bad publicity. I will get to this ASAP. Maybe then Jeep will realize how big of an issue this really is for the consumer. Thanks for the advice

I know at least 10 others with the same issue. Mine gave out a month ago and I lucked out and found a new part of a recently totaled Renegade from a junkyard. Dealer said 4 months wait, no rental, JEEP CARES was a joke. They said they'd cover a rental but I'd had to pay upfront and I would be reimbursed. Another friend of mine was given a rental by Jeep Cares upfront no money down needed. I took matters into my own hands because my warranty just expired so I was going to be paying out of pocket. Service depts wanted $980 for the replacement and repairs. I found the damn part for $80 and installed it with a friend. Took 1 hour! Service dept quotes 6 hours of labor. Love my jeep but for so many to have the same problem and nothing being done about it. It's being handled like a joke. No consistency whatsoever. I reported mine to NHTSA and asked everyone I know with the same issue to do so as well. One dealer in Houston had 9 total all with the same issue. RIDICULOUS.

As my user name indicates this is my first new Jeep. 2017 Rene Sport. I have never been Mopar fan from my teen years. 68 now. I decided to roll the dice on the Renegade after renting a 2016 an liking it. I keep my fingers crossed every day that I didn't make a bad decision. Question: does the Fiat v 500l have the same problem?

The 500l uses a different engine. This seems to mainly affect the 2.4L 9 speed

I wonder how many have failed nation wide? My dealers service department said they still have 15 on back order. That doesn't count the ones they have already repaired or the other three dealerships in the area.. I just traded mine off today for a 2017, tired of waiting for the unicorn part. Hopefully I don't have an issue with this one. Under warranty either way. I did notice the heat shield over the cooling fan motor that was not on my 2015.

Lemon law. Here in MN, if it's in the shop for warranty repairs for 30 cumulative days the manufacturer is required to buy it back.

I think I'm going to check the lemon law here in NC before anything might happen. Sad but I never thought about it with my Sonic. Don't get me wrong, I love the Renegade. It's the perfect size, plenty of power, lots of room, it drives and handles great and it's got a lot of cool features for the money. And I got a great deal on it!

Well again, another worthless update on the coolant fan parts. We are in Sept, and we will not see movement until Nov 2nd. Remember my Jeep has been broke since 8-1-17, having to make payments. See attached for the voicemail that was left on my cell. I think this is huge issue and did contact the state attorney and they are looking into my complaint since Jeep has not attempted to offer any compensation for the delay.

My car overheated Sunday. It took a really long time for Chrysler Jeep to send me a tow truck. They told me my part (cooling fan) may be in by next week Thursday. This is my first American Car did I make a big mistake? The service advisor said it was a rare event for the fan to malfunction, not sure why it is on backorder. I hope I am not stuck in a rental for months. My car is a 2016 with 16,000 miles way too new to overheat and die, usually only happens after it's out of warranty.

Rumors are that there are 2,000 to 3,000 of the fan assemblies on back order. If your shop gets you one in 10 days or so, consider yourself blessed. FCA seems to be catching up on the backlog recently, but other people are hearing that it will be early November before their replacement part order is filled.
