So it's that time in my life where the wife says, "it's time to buy yourself a new vehicle ." After going back and forth for lets say...a while I decided. You guessed it, i'm on toaster jeeps so it must be a Renegade.

Now for the introduction and the back story.

I'm Felix, new here not to Jeeping though. I think buying new vehicles is stupid (lol). Reason: They cost to much.

My poor feeble budget conscious mind can't fathom the idea of buying an offroad vehicle and promptly running to bounce it off mother natures broad side. Finding nifty things that require holes to be drilled into pristine metal, pinch seams that need "mended" to fit the toys, or 1st owner gremlins all gives me anxiety that makes me considers going to my local pill dispensing lab coat to fix.

Then like a phoenix from the ashes arises my savior the low cost life style guru that is the Renegade.
    So it was done.

    I had very specific requirements:
    1. Thy shall have power to go to all 4 corners
    2. Thou shalt not drive an auto
    3. It has to be a color that doesn't bring 1984 vibes
So what did I do? I hop skipped and jumped down to my local jeep dispensary and gandered at the stock... A solid swing and a miss. No fun colors (strike one), no manuals (strike two), but a bunch of AWD/4x4 drives. Being someone who believes the earth is round I figured 2 was close enough to 3 for me count this trip as a as a failure (dramatic music) or was it? Enter Doug. Doug my suave jeep sales consultant ushered me to his desk, and brings up the "website".

At this "website" we locate all the magic goodie buttons. An hour later I get the best spec'd Jeep Renegade anyone could want! It's yellow (how f******g happy and non 1984-y is yellow?), it has the worlds best engine for a NA spec BU a 1.4L turbo, the best transmission type -manual with 6 cogs, tops that pop off, and because I had to get it to have top pop off A/C(boooo...why do you have to have A/C to make holes in the roof? It's all just going to float away duncha know?)

What did it cost me? A decent chunk of change and 3 to 4 months for it to be built and go on a boat ride. In my mind i'm thinking this jeep is gonna be cultured as f***...all European'n's**t.

So that is the new jeep, but I can hear you shouting at your screen...What is the old jeep? Well duh it's the best jeep ever made the Cj5 (2 of em) with an AMC 360, 33s, welded diff, and so much back yard mechanical nightmare work that if I ever sold the thing I can honestly say the only part that's original/unmodified is the front drive shaft. For retro jeep porn i've attached some photos of my bea during a particularly stressful hearth transplant, leg repair, and spine injury to give credence to the fact that I am a strong believer in if it's broke fix it, don't throw it away. With a welder you can fix anything...ANYTHING.

All joking aside now, I'm super happy to be here and i'm bouncing off the walls waiting for my new Renegade to get state side (already been waiting a month). As soon as it arrives at my doorstep i'm buying a lift kit (unsure if i'll do the Daystar or AVID). Tires are next and many pictures and build logs will be done. I've been living in SD for the past few years and driving lowered sports cars, motorcycles, and a 2WD frontier. I've missed a lot of my opportunity to explore the Black Hills due to these limitations, but I hope my new whip will help me see it all before I move away. I have tons of silly Jeep stories and a wealth of old school jeep knowledge that extends beyond the google search bar. I can hardly English so hope that doesn't ruin any ones day. 'Sup everyone!

It's finally here, though tomorrow it'll be heading back to the dealership due to a ECS error that prevents 4x4 from leaving auto and activating. If anyone is in western SD hit me up and we can go adventuring! IMG_20180530_201203.jpg IMG_20180531_172620.jpg
